Exam in Mechatronics

Problem: There are 3 players playing a quiz show. If the player 1 pushes the push button first the lamp green will
turn on and the player 2 and player 3 cannot turn on their lamp. If the player 2 pushes the push button first the
yellow lamp will turn on and the player 1 and 3 cannot turn on their lamp. If the player 3 pushes the push button
first the red lamp will turn on and the player 1 and player 2.

LEGEND Don’t forget to label the color of the lamp

INPUT OUTPUT Example

Player 1 - PB1 Green - Lamp

Player 2 - PB2 Yellow - Lamp Green Lamp
Player 3 – PB3 Red - Lamp
Relay 0 – R0
Make a diagram base on the problem
Relay 1 - R1
Relay 2 – R2
Relay 3 – R3

Let’s have a recap of what do read last time last have a pretest.

Sensors are elements for monitoring the performance of machines and processes. The common
classification of sensors is: distance, movement, proximity, stress/strain/force, and temperature. There are many
commercially available sensors but we have picked the ones that are frequently used in mechatronic applications.
Often, the conditioned signal output from a sensor is transformed into a digital form for display on a computer or
other display units. The apparatus for manipulating the sensor output into a digital form for display is referred to as
admeasuring instrument.

Electrical actuators
While a sensor is a device that can convert mechanical energy to electrical energy, an electrical actuator, on
the other hand, is a device that can convert electrical energy to mechanical energy. All actuators are transducers (as
they convert one form of energy into another form). Some sensors are transducers, but not all. Actuators are used
to produce motion or action, such as linear motion or angular motions. Some of the important electrical actuators
used in mechatronic systems include solenoids, relays, and electric motors. These actuators are instrumental in
moving physical objects in mechatronic systems.

Remember me?

Do you remember the last week module we talk about how system of Air Conditioner Works?
Air conditioner system was an open-loop system it means it will give a feedback and how can the system
determine what data that it will feedback. The system use sensor to determine if what will it going to send data to
the system. In example above the sensor will tell to the system how cold it was by sending data sampling and will go
to the conversion and will go to the computer interface to process and the output will be the digital data.
