- Divorce is the term used in the process in terminating a marriage or marital union.
It is the separation of two people who exchanged vows in the eye of the God and the law.
When I was child, this issue was already a hot topic even before, because our country, the
Philippines is one the two countries that does not have divorce law, the other is the Vatican
City. For the many, this law would help them escape from their failing marriage and from
their other selfish reasons, but we can’t blame them. Each one of us have our own
limitations in life, we have unique personality and behavior that we carry throughout our
life, we have the mind to decide what is good for us.
I got a friend that her parents got separated, she’s living with her unbiological
brother. I observed she got personality problems (which is I don’t need to state), compare to
my other classmates who grew up guided by their parents. Parents has a major role in
development of a child, they are the first teacher and should be remained the best teacher
throughout our lives. I don’t agree to this law, for it’ll ruin the life of the children they left
behind. Yes, the law said that the separated couple will continue to sustain the needs of the
child financially, but for me, as a psychology student, I stand negative for this issue.
I grew up with a chaotic environment, my parents are always exchanging curses to
each other. My mother always running away from the house with her 3 children, but in the
end of the day, she always comes back to my father. Although my parent’s relationship is
like that, I observed, that to them marriage is a sacred commitment and responsibility that
needs to be nurtured.
