1. Introducing Wanaka Farm
As of this writing, NFT is gaining widespread popularity across different walks of
life. And we believe that it is for a good reason, at least for our application in
gaming. NFTs are used in Wanaka Farm because we believe that NFTs in
gaming create much more value for the players than traditional games.

The value lies in the real ownership rights given to users over their acquired
in-game components. Within Wanaka Farm, each NFT character has its own
uniqueness, rarity, and advantages. These components are considered as
valuable digital assets and are tradable within the cryptocurrency market / NFT
marketplaces.

Enabled by blockchain technology, these digital in-game items have real value.
Beyond financial incentives, they allow users to interact deeper on an emotional
level while spending time in the game, exploring the wonders of beautiful

Wanaka Farm, connecting with fellow players, and nurturing in-game characters.
Wanaka Farm is taking the gaming and blockchain industry to a whole new level
by providing new benefits in terms of game economy & user experience that will
completely revolutionize for players.

2. Sight and Sound of Wanaka

2.1 Wanaka Universe
Wanaka Farm setting is inspired by a dreamy beautiful town from the South
Island of New Zealand called Wanaka. The town of Wanaka is situated at the
southern end of Lake Wanaka, surrounded by gorgeous natural beauty of
mountains, lakes, and forest. The game feel will incorporate as much sight and
sound of Wanaka to evoke natural beauty and immersive relaxing experience as
possible.

At Wanaka Farm, players will immerse themselves in the role of a happy farmer
by cultivating lands, crop farming, breeding pets, and decorating their own virtual
land. From then, each participant will contribute to building a whole metaverse
combining multiple unique customized farms.

Cultivating lands GO > Breeding animals GO >

At Wanaka Farm, we believe that having a unique item and/or character is one of
the ways the game can be appealing and engaging, but also rewarding to the
players. There is a degree of randomness, as well as a sense of ownership.

Users can create special farms and crop in their own way. In-game items created
by players are their assets, and can be freely traded in the marketplace
accordingly. The intention is to organically build a real economy system within
the game. Given our token design, this aligns the interests of stakeholders and
game participants, thereby allowing the players not only to enjoy the game but
also the opportunity to earn from their contribution to the Wanaka ecosystem.

4
In the future, more specifically, with AR / VR technology, we expect the sensory
experience of playing the game will improve vastly. Players will be able to
immerse themselves in virtual reality experiences in the process of caring,
harvesting and trading their agricultural products.

In the near term, we encourage players to enjoy the open world of Wanaka
Farm’s fresh sight and sound with family and friends, although playing alone is
fine too. The game can be played either quickly in between activities or to be
enjoyed for a longer duration while sitting in traffic, before you go to bed, or
spending your lazy weekend.

2.2 Intended Audience

Play, relax and earn. Unlike some other games where players have to compete with
others, Wanaka Farm’s core appeal is based on collaboration between users. The game
is intended to have an appeal, targeted towards different players from
different walks of life, regardless of age, gender, occupation, and social classes. We
would certainly like to bring a different meaning of farming to as many crypto
enthusiasts as possible, but we would also like to be appealing to non crypto natives
as well as the game develops further.

3. Building Blocks of Wanaka Farm

3.1 Farmers’ First Steps
To start the game, each “future farmer” of Wanaka Farm needs to create an
account and will be distributed an in-game avatar to begin. The account will be
linked to a wallet (like Metamask) from where the farmer will store his in-game
items and confirm transactions.

Each player will represent a farmer (whether you are into DeFi or not) in the
beautiful town of Wanaka and is represented by an avatar in the game where the
players can interact with each other through the avatar. The player can also
modify the avatar by reinstalling if desired.

1 USER NAME 1 USER NAME

To purchase lands, players can go directly to Wanaka in-game marketplace or

multi-marketplaces such as Mochi.Market and Binance NFT. The lands have
limited supply and are created as NFT. After purchasing a land, players are free
to decorate his or her own land to their liking with various in-game items such as
houses, lakes, decorations, pets, plants and other items which can be
additionally purchased on the market.

As an illustration, the image below shows a simplified scenario describing 2

options that new players can choose when starting the game. Since the game
enables the renting of lands, each land NFT can be used as an investment as
well where landowners are free to set the rent fee that they wish to charge. It’s a
free market.

Although it is a free market, players are not able to take others’ land freely.
This is because when a land is rented, the transaction is carried out through a
smart contract, thereby providing protection to the land owners by ensuring that
the lessee won’t be able to resell the land in the marketplace. Further, after the
rental expires, that specific land will return to the rightful owner at the end of the
rental period.

3.2 Modes and Devices

In the initial stages of Wanaka Farm game development, players will already be able to
play both on desktop computers and mobile phones to experience and control the
game characters in 2D. During this initial development, desktop computer usage is
recommended.

In the standard mode (without VR/AR), the game provides a full range of
features and activities for the character. This allows players participation without
being dependent on the accompanying accessories (such as a VR device).

In the medium term, the game will also be available on PlayStation with AR/VR
compatible mode. AR and VR compatibility is targeted to be available in Q2
2022, to be followed with PlayStation VR integration in Q3 2022.

3.3 Lands

Lands - in the form of NFT - can be obtained by participating in events or through

purchasing in a secondary market such as Wanaka’s in-game marketplace,
Mochi.Market or Binance NFT. The supply of land is limited in quantity. Each
land is unique with its respective characteristics. Land’s characteristics are set
randomly which will define their rarity.

6
There are 4 types of land that players can acquire from dropping events.
Basic lands
Lake
Forest
Sea
Initially, only basic lands will be made available for the 1 st sale event with a
limited supply.

Other types of lands (lake, forest, sea) will be available after basic lands sales.
Aside from the land type, in this section, we will further explore how not every
land is the same.

Seasons
Like in New Zealand, there are four seasons in this game: spring, summer,
autumn, and winter. However, as part of the uniqueness of each land, not every
land will have 4 seasons. The maximum number of seasons that are attributed to
each land is randomly set.

The difference in seasons will create a unique experience because each growing
item can be farmed only on specific season(s). To maximize the yield for a given
land, players are able to find appropriate growing items in the marketplace. We
encourage interaction between participants and sharing knowledge on farming
best practices.Together, players can grow the overall game’s economy, just like
an agriculture industry helping a nation’s GDP growth.

spring summer autumn winter

Rarity
There are 6 rarity levels for each land: common, uncommon, rare, legendary, mythic,
immortal.

According to land’s rarity, the growing cycle of the farming / petting activity may
have different levels of speed.

The rarity table below describes for each land the following characteristics:

PRODUCT ITEMS

BUILD ITEMS

We have briefly touched some of the in-game assets that will be created for
Wanaka Farm gaming experience. In this section, we will go through briefly one
by one each category that will be available in the initial stage of Wanaka Farm.

Seed items
Seed items are fundamental assets that players need in order to begin farming
and grow products in Wanaka Farm. Upon starting the game, the player will need
to purchase them on the Wanaka Farm’s game store or alternatively to purchase
seed items from other players at Wanaka Farm’s marketplace.

Further, seed items can be either normal or genetically modified. Players are
able to create a genetically modified seed by putting harvested items into the
breeding house (more details on §3.7 - breeding house).

Growing items
These are items (plants, growing pets) that are still in the growing process that
are not yet harvested. Each growing item evolves from stage 1 to stage 3 until
they can be harvested. They can be traded on Wanaka’s marketplace among
players according to their needs.

Lands can also be traded on Wanaka’s marketplace with or without growing items.

Harvested items
Harvested items are items that you have already harvested. They can be traded
on Wanaka Farm’s Marketplace. Harvested items are sometimes necessary to
complete quests and receive rewards. Some players may also want to have
harvested items in order to optimize their farms.

8
Product items
Product items are the products obtained from harvested items (for example, food
made according to a recipe, which requires some ingredients).

The product items are tradeable in the marketplace and may be useful to
complete certain quests as well.

Building Items
Building items are decoration assets such as fences and roads. These items can
be acquired through participating in special events. Certain events will likely have
limited edition items as well, with the decorative feel mimicking certain seasons
such as during Christmas, Lunar New Year, and Valentine’s Day.

Players can freely trade them on Wanaka’s marketplace or use them to decorate
their farm.

3.5 Energy and Level

Player’s Energy
Each player is attributed a limited working energy per day. If you want to improve your
productivity rate, you will need to seek new working forces from other players that have
surplus energy to offer or those who don’t have land to farm.

200/200

9
Land’s Level

Experiences are acquired by farming and/or petting. The longer a player spends
time on farming, the higher the level will be. With the new level, the player may
unlock new growing items that can be farmed on that land, as well as open up
more farming slots.

Some of the activities that can be done to help increase the land’s level are:
Growing and preparing slots
Plant trees
Irrigate trees
Feed and grow pets
Harvest crops

3.6 Production House

Production house is a facility for players to combine harvested items to get
product items.

3.7 Breeding House

Once the items are harvested, players also have an option to use the breeding
house to create a new genetically modified seed. However, there is no
guaranteed success rate for this operation. The probability that an item can be
genetically modified depends on the characteristic of each harvested item that is
randomly set during the growing process.

3.8 Items Life Cycle

The image below describes a multiple life cycle of an item. According to their
needs and game strategy, players can choose the life path cycle that can be
applied to each of their items.

4. Game Activities
In this section, we would like to do a quick recap on some of the activities the
player can participate in the game.

4.1 Feed and Grow

Just like real farmers, farmers of Wanaka Farm have the ability to choose
whether to buy seeds or pets or to take care of both on their farm according to
their preferences or the suitability of the environment they have for each species.

4.2 Harvest

Harvested items harvested from the farm will be owned by players

in the form of NFT.

4.3 Produce

Harvested items from the farm can also be used to produce other
products. For illustration please refer to the image below.

In order to create new seed items, players will need to combine 2 “harvested
items”. However, depending on their probabilities of success, not all combined
seeds will produce genetically modified seed items.

For each breeding operation, players can receive between 2 to 4 new seeds.

4.5 Trading Items

Players can trade Items (lands, seed items, growing items, harvested items,
product items, building items, etc) at Wanaka Farm’s marketplace whenever they
feel like to.

5. Wanatrade & Wanashop

6. Play-to-Earn
6.1 Introduction to Play-to-Earn Business Model

The Play-to-Earn business model is the latest development in the games industry
where we believe it has a strong value proposition to various stakeholders and
most importantly the game users itself. It’s a business model that embraces the
concept of an open economy and provides financial benefits to all players who
add value by contributing to the game ecosystem.

Giving players the ownership over in-game assets and allowing them to increase
their value by actively playing the game are key components of the play-to-earn
business model. By participating in the in-game economy, players are creating
value for other players and the developers. In turn, they are rewarded with in-
game assets. These digital assets can be anything ranging from cryptocurrencies
to in-game resources that are tokenized on the blockchain. That’s why the play-
to-earn business model goes very well together with blockchain games.

At Wanaka Farm, we aim to balance the two main pillars :

Immersing players into a relax and zentitude playing environment

8. Blockchain

8.1 Binance Smart Chain

Selecting a technology is not an easy decision. However, we are driven by

wanting to have as many farmers as possible in the game, and to make it as
frictionless as possible, as such, Binance Smart Chain is chosen to take
advantage of growing popularity and the low transaction costs the chain offers.

8.2 Game Assets

Assets in the game are always transparently controlled to ensure their scarcity
and ability to store value for the rightful owners. Allotted assets and items will be
monitored by functions defined from the beginning by the game publisher.
Information will be stored in an NFT on the Binance Smart Chain blockchain. In
the not-too-distant future, we will support multi-chain (cross-chain), adding other
powerful NFT-supporting blockchains as well such as Polygon, Tron, and
Solana.

8.3 Marketplaces

In-game assets can be traded through Wanaka Farm’s marketplace, as well as

third party marketplace. This allows further liquidity even from non-active users.

8.4 A Game Controlled By Players

The goal of Wanaka Farm is to be a decentralized game that is long lasting

where it is completely governed and continuously improved by the players. By
applying blockchain technology, Wanaka Farm will push the boundaries of the
normal game by allowing users to control the game and development. In other
words, a free public application officially controlled by the players and other
stakeholders such as investors. The source code will have an open source
license for users to control and co-develop. To ensure transparency, any
transaction related to the asset will be an on-chain transaction as well.

9. AR and VR development
Digitally extended reality has gained significant ground in gaming as manylarge-
scale game development companies have decided to jump on AR / VR. These
innovations make sense for the video game business, since the most successful
implementers of cutting-edge Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)
gaming systems can drastically improve customer experience.

The augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) market size was $37.0 billion in
2019, and it is expected to reach $1,274.4 billion in 2030, while progressing at a

Difference between AR and VR

What is virtual reality?

In virtual reality, users get to interact with a virtual world. Users are brought into
a simulated reality in which their sight and hearing is stimulated. The goal is to
immerse the user into a specific virtual world.

Most of the time, virtual reality utilizes a VR headset that’s equipped with
speakers and a display that encompasses your entire vision. Since virtual reality
requires a large amount of processing power, you may need to get a VR gaming
computer to run more intensive VR applications.

What is augmented reality?

Augmented reality amplifies your real-world surroundings by adding virtual

features that the user may interact with. Unlike virtual reality, augmented
reality doesn’t try to immerse the user and block out the real world - it just
overlays graphics and animation on top of real-world environments.

AR utilizes a variety of different mediums, from headsets to apps to digital

cameras.

typical farm games.

Users can take a selfie with the pets raised on the farm, or any beautiful scenery
on the farm decorated with unique game items, which then can be shared on
social networks. Unlike VR, this can be done through a smartphone. But like VR,
this will create a very different experience compared to other traditional games.

The fact that the player can interact with the surrounding environment gives a
realistic feeling like growing a tree in your own backyard. Also, it would be great
to be able to take selfies with lovely pets in the setting of your own farm.

11. Community governance

11.1 Introduction
Wanaka Farm aims to be a true user-owned game with its own decentralized
organization called Community Council which will be managed by the
community. Therefore, we have also integrated a concept of a DAO
(Decentralized autonomous organization), which over time can take over much of
the decision-making power in the game. The Community Council will be an
important element of the game ecosystem, which will address both in-game
issues as well as proposals regarding future game development and funding.

11.2 Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO)

Wanaka Farm is a Member-owned community game without centralized

leadership. Every $WANA token holder is de facto a member of the
Decentralized Autonomous Organisations (DAO).

In order to participate in the governance process, DAO members will have to

stake their $WANA token. Only staked $WANA can be counted for the votes. By
participating in the voting process, $WANA holders directly contribute and build
the future of Wanaka Farm together.

From time to time, active DAO participants will also be rewarded for their
contribution as an appreciation for the efforts taken to grow the Wanaka Farm
economy and community.

11.3 Community Events

Wanaka Farm intends to imitate a relaxing farming life, only digitally. As such, the
team has created an atmosphere of friendship and togetherness which will be
more fun and enjoyable when players around the world join hands to take part in
community events that encourage and provide opportunities to build a beautiful,
fun and friendly society bonded together through the passion and admiration for
nature. Along the way, the game will also feature and promotecommunity-
generated events where players will be able to create and participate inactivities
- generated by the community, for the community.

Examples of community events:

Volunteering to save Africa
Rescue agricultural products
Support funds for disease prevention
Plant trees
