Activity 1 Instruction: Identify the influential entrepreneur based on their contribution. (2 pts each)
1. He believes a manager crosses the threshold into entrepreneurship when “the exercise of
his/her judgment is prone to error and s/he bears responsibility for its correctness.” Frank
Knight
2. His studies resulted in something resembling a broad theory of entrepreneurship with three
separate functions: “scientific understanding of the product; entrepreneurial industry – the
application of information to a practical purpose; and productive industry – the human labor
manufacturing of the item.” Jean-Baptiste Say
3. He viewed innovation as arising from new combinations of materials and forces. He provided
the following five cases of new combinations. Schumpeter
4. Entrepreneurs are those who make money through exchanges. Richard Cantillon

5. Entrepreneurs are rewarded in exchange for anticipating the effects of uncertainty and selling
their products at a price that exceeds their input costs. Adolph Reidel
6. Profit is the reward that entrepreneurs get from assuming uninsurable risks. Frank Knight

8. Ranked goods according to their causal connections to human satisfaction. Carl Menger
9. He was interested in learning how everyone fits into the economic system. The economy,

Age: 44 years old
Business Name: Edgar Sia
Advise to future entrepreneur: My advice to other aspiring entrepreneurs is it’s all right to start small.
Before you make your first step in starting a new business, give a lot of importance to studying deeply
the industry that you want to penetrate, then carefully prepare your business plan. Once you are
ready, be prepared to execute passionately and have laser focus on growing your new business
especially during its start-up stage.
Entrepreneurial Traits/ Application of Entrepreneurial Traits in the field
Characteristics
Aggressive 1. Being a good leader. An entrepreneur is expected to manage a
business and most professionals in this position are responsible for
its start-up as well. Typically, entrepreneurship involves finding
and building relationships with investors, overseeing employees
and monitoring operations. To perform these activities well, you
need to be an effective leader.
Deep grit 2. Learning from your experiences. While it is normal to make
mistakes when managing a team, you can identify the pros and
cons of your leadership style while you work and use your findings
to improve how you lead others.
Determination 3. Being confident. Confidence is a subjective belief that you have
what is needed for something. Entrepreneurs ask banks for loans,
hire workers, motivate teams and build relationships with clients
and suppliers, so it is important for an entrepreneur to be
confident in their ability to do all these things well.
Passion 4. Being passionate. Being passionate about building and running
your business can make it easier to put in the effort needed for a
successful enterprise. Start each business day by reminding
yourself of all the things that you look forward to doing such as
closing a deal or hiring a new employee.
sincerity and resourcefulness 5. Keeping an open mind. Keeping an open mind involves the
willingness to listen to the opinions and ideas of others. Typically,
entrepreneurs start businesses in competitive industries that have
already established market leaders. To succeed in this position, it is
necessary to see business opportunities in everyday events and
look for ways to improve business offerings.

Reflection
Write your reflection about this module. This reflection is a summary of what you have learned after
studying the lesson. You may start this reflection by using the prompt “I understood” or “I realized”.

I realized that being creative and innovative is something inside ourselves that needs to be developed.
It’s only through putting these abilities to work that you can improve them. It’s undeniable that
entrepreneurship requires both skills, so they’ll get used and improved along your way.
