How will MBA as your academic degree help you achieve your career goal? One of a leading careers exploration website revealed that, 52% of students don’t know what they wanted to do with their careers. I was afraid how I might fall in that statistics, but a statement hit me when Mr. Rosendra Dhoj Khadka in our first lecture said, “It’s all about how you connect the dots, how you diversify or concentrate in your career journey.” The statement alone started making a lot of sense and made me realize my dots. One of the main reasons I joined MBA was to broaden my career options. For a student who fancied the idea of “Administrative Work” and also pursued her Bachelor in Business Administration, MBA seemed like the only correct answer. It also sounded equally assuring and safe considering how banking jobs are undebatably attractive. What also added to my reason of pursuing MBA was the idea of helping my parents in their business. Above all, I wanted to widen my career doors. A career in foreign service, diplomacy, the idea of representing my country in international affairs grew into me during the time between my Bachelor and Master. I was still skeptical if I could pursue this career, but the challenge and reward in it was enticing and that added the fuel. Moreover, the academic qualification for the foreign service invited applicants from any discipline and since I still wanted to keep my option doors open and explore careers, I chose to pursue MBA. Over the semesters, no matter for what reasons I initially chose MBA it has helped me grow a lot not just professionally and on a career viewpoint but also as an individual. I’ve always had a knack for writing and have been praised for my presentation and communication skills. Although it sounded just a hobby and a talent with no scope back in the days, the transformation of writing blogs as a career to today’s crowded blogosphere changed that concept. MBA has brought me to a pool of professionals and the leaders of tomorrow and that has allowed me to work professionally on what I enjoy. Although I started writing because I wanted to, I now get paid for it. From taking contractual writings to projects on writing, MBA has helped me a lot to grow on my skills. I’ve been participating in different national and international business idea competitions since I joined MBA and even bagged the First runner up title to 2020 HANDONG UNESCO UNITWIN Social Innovation Idea and Venture Business Plan Competition
