Please describe your career goals (200 words)

As someone who has worked in Media Network Sales for the past three years and assisted a
variety of advertisers in their marketing goals, my short-term goal is to excel as a brand
manager/marketing manager of a brand. In such a position, I will be responsible for building
the brand's image, developing long-term and immediate marketing plans and strategies, and
leading cross-functional teams to ensure that the plan is implemented effectively. Upon
successful completion of my short-term goal, I hope to be able to obtain my long-term goal
of becoming a Business Development Director, in charge of a specific geographical area or
special business segment, where I will be able to develop a vision and bring it to fruition.
There is no doubt that my goal is to leave my mark across various industries and leverage
my experience to ultimately teach students in the future.

2. Please describe the most significant challenge you have faced so far. How did you
resolve it? What did you learn? (200 words)*
The biggest challenge I’ve faced in my life has been the last 4 years trying to crack the CAT
examination. I’d never attempted any competitive examination before in my life. Failure to
perform well in the examination made we question and give up on myself, especially after
my 2nd attempt. In my 3rd attempt, I left the preparation midway as I didn’t believe I could
perform well. The way I resolved it was persevering and taking a punt on myself. I managed
and played around my strengths, worked really hard on weaknesses. Like Kobe Bryant says”
Turn every setback into a comeback”, I tried to use whatever I learnt over the last 3 years
and improve on them in this attempt. What I learnt is to stay resilient, innovate and realize
that the power to make a change lies within us and by reconceptualizing failure as the entry
to success, I can persevere till I fail my way to success.

3. Please explain your objectives and goals as they relate to pursuing MBA. Also
describe what you think other students may learn from you. (e.g. perspective, skills
and expertise) (400 words)
Pursuing a MBA was a natural progression after having completed my Bachelors in
Management studies, which created a strong base for me. One of the major reasons for
pursuing MBA is to enhance my understanding of business disciplines which will help me
unlock to business challenges significantly better. The knowledge gained will help me to
achieve my short- and long-term career goals. MBA will also give me an opportunity to
develop deeper critical thinking, helping to navigate complex issues. It also gives me an
opportunity to share a classroom with people with various backgrounds and experiences
leading to a more comprehensive learning experience. MBA provides me with an
opportunity to develop my leadership skills. The ability to inspire, lead and motivate my
peers in a group setting is something I’d like to transfer to my career as well. All the
extracurricular activities will also give me an opportunity to improve my communication
skills as well as work on my personality. With my experience of having worked at one of the
biggest media houses in India, I do think people can learn a lot about sales, client
management and media planning and strategies. Being a Network Sales Executive, involved
me managing a lot of media planners and buyers thereby improving my communication and
people skills which I feel is critical which my peers can learn from me. The constant pressure
of overachieving your sales targets, the planning and determination involved is also
something that I bring to the table. Throughout my college, I’ve held various leadership
roles and headed various projects, so leadership is a skill that I do possess to a certain
extent. My perspective as a commerce graduate, with experience of sales will definitely
bring a diverse point of view thereby enriching the experience for my peers as well.
