SUMMER BREAK - ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT 2021-22

SUBJECT: SOCIAL SCIENCE

Objective: The overall objective of the project work is to help students to:
➢ gain an insight and pragmatic understanding of the theme and see all the Social Science
disciplines from interdisciplinary perspective.
➢ enhance the Life Skills of the students.
➢ apply the Social Science concepts that they have learnt over the years in order to
prepare the project report.
If required, students may go out for collecting data and use different primary and secondary
resources to prepare the project.
If possible, various forms of art may be integrated in the project work.

Every student has to compulsorily undertake any one project on the following topics:
Topic -1- Consumer Awareness

Meaning of consumer awareness- Ways in which consumers are exploited in the marketplace-
Rights of Consumers- Origin of Consumer Movement in India- Prepare a suitable questionnaire
of about 10 questions, to get an idea whether consumers are alert in the marketplace.

Viva Questions:

1. Who are consumers?

2. What are consumer forums?
3. What is MRP?
Topic-2- Social Issues

Socio-Economic Impact of the Pandemic COVID-19.

Explain the impact of Pandemic COVID-19 on economic and human development of India-
Problems that can arise due to the pandemic- Graphical representation of the data related to the
health condition of the nation- Impact on Public Facilities- The impact of the pandemic on
different sectors- The most affected sector and the reasons- Unemployment scenario in different
sectors and its impact on the society- Economic impact of the pandemic- Suggestions for
improving credit scenario in India.

Viva Questions:

1. Who are the most vulnerable sections of the society during disasters?

2. Which are the sectors that will be affected more by the disaster? Classify it into primary,
secondary and tertiary sectors.
3. What are the creative solutions that can be taken up to reduce the impact?
Topic-3- Sustainable Development

Define Sustainable Development- Consequences of Environmental Degradation- Control of

Environmental Degradation- Prepare a report on initiatives and projects in the UAE to
implement the Sustainable Development Goals- Your contribution towards Sustainable
development.

Viva Questions:

1. How can you save energy in the school?

2. Name any two initiatives of UAE to ensure sustainable development.

3. How is Expo 2020 innovating to achieve its sustainable goals?

CRITERIA

➢ The report should be handwritten.

➢ Use A4 size paper only.
➢ The project should in 4-5 pages
The project requires the following features:
➢ Cover page (Name of the topic, Name of the student, class & section, Roll number)
➢ Index
➢ Content [Introduction- Explanation of the topic with relevant pictures- Conclusion]
➢ Bibliography
