COURSE SYLLABUS

Course Descriptions

This course is designed to develop an in-depth knowledge of the methodology appropriate for
conducting research in business. The course will introduce the students to how to frame research
questions, assess methods best suited to research questions, measure concepts, apply sampling
procedures, understanding data collection strategies, and analyze data. At the end of the course, the
students should be able to complete a research proposal.

Pre-requisite : Standing Third Year Level

Grading Policy

The student’s grade is composed of:

a. Class Standing (CS) which includes quizzes, assignments, recitations, online discussion
boards, laboratory exercises, seat works, journals, portfolios, case studies, and the like.
The Class Standing is computed by simple average.

b. Periodical Examinations (PE). This refers to Assessment of Learning for Preliminary,


Midterm, or Final term.

The Prelim Grade (PG) is computed as:

Prelim Grade = 2/3 of Class Standing + 1/3 of Prelim Examination

The Midterm Grade (MG) is computed as:

Midterm Grade = 2/3 of Class Standing + 1/3 of Midterm Examination


Cummulative Midterm Grade = 2/3 of Midterm Grade + 1/3 of Prelim Grade

The Final Grade (FG) is computed as:

Final Grade = 2/3 of Class Standing + 1/3 of Final Examination


Cummulative Final Grade = 2/3 of Final Grade + 1/3 of Midterm Grade

The percentage equivalent of Periodical Examination and the different components of the Class
Standing is computed as:
Passing Mark is 75% and above
Failing Mark is below 75%

Incomplete Mark will be given to students on the following instances:

1. The student failed to take the final examination

2. The student failed to submit major course requirements

Failure Due to Absences (FDA) Mark is given to students who have incurred a significant
number of absences. Please refer to the University of La Salette, Inc Student Handbook,
