The movie “The Intern” focuses on two main characters, they are, Jules Ostin, the CEO and

founder of the startup online clothing company called “About The Fit” and Ben Wettkar, a 70
year old man, who becomes a senior intern and ends up being assigned to assist the young CEO.

Recruitment is the process which provides the organization with a pool of potentially qualified
candidates for job from which judicious selection can be made to fill the vacancies.

Recruitment Process

1. Advertisement: The HR team floated an advertisement for a Senior Intern Program in


which they mentioned all the qualities that a candidate must have for the senior intern
position. The company was looking for a senior intern above the age of 65 who had
organizational skills and was genuinely interested in e-commerce. They were looking for
a person who can work in difficult and intense situations.

2. Cover Video: This was the first round in which the applicants were asked to upload a
cover video to YouTube or VIMEO using .MOV, .AVI, .MPG file, in which they need to
tell about themselves and their past experiences.

3. Processing of Applications: The applicants were shortlisted for the Interview based on
their cover videos. They have selected quite a unique method for recruiting someone who
is above the age of 65 which would be quite difficult for the applicant. Basically here
they were checking the willingness and confidence of the candidate.

4. Interview: This was the second round where the shortlisted candidates were interviewed
by the Talent Acquisition team. Following were the questions asked in the interview:
 Where did you go to school?
 What was your major subject? Do you remember?
 Where did you worked? What did they manufacture?
 Are they still into the manufacturing of same product?
 Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

5. Commencement of Interns: Interns were introduced to the team and were assigned to
their reporting managers.

As the company is looking for some senior intern, so they should adopt the conventional
method for recruiting them. Also, the applicants are being interviewed by the employees of
the company who are barely half of their age. This can create a problem in selecting the right
amount of skills that the company is looking for in the candidate.
