REACTION PAPER ABOUT BANDUNG CONFERENCE

Asian and African leaders gathered for the first time at the Bandung Conference in
Indonesia. This was the first time in recorded history where African and Asian leaders gathered
to address current challenges. The conference was headed over by Indonesian President
Sukarno, and delegates from several countries attended. They were unified in their opposition
to colonialism, and urged countries that were still under colonial authority to struggle for
independence. The conference was convened to promote peace and the promotion of
economic and cultural cooperation among Afro-Asian countries, as well as decolonization. The
said conference had an impact and highlighted the emergence of Third World countries on the
international stage.
