1. SCOPE diagram

In the first assignment of making the scope we needed to make the entities clear for ourselves.
We saw that the entities were as follows: Suppliers/ Sources, Uniqlo itself, which is our
organization and then we have the last entity which are the customers.

Our suppliers are in our case global suppliers the first tier, factories that we have are in Istanbul,
China, Bangladesh Bali, Indonesia. Portugal and Vietnam. These are all different companies
who work together with us. Last but not least we also have material manufactures who are
giving us the material to make our clothes

From the text we can conclude, that we many entities in our own organization. Our main entities
are the Merchandisers, European distribution center in Venlo, 3 Regional distribution centers in
United Kingdom (Dunfermline, Scotland, servicing Scottish market. 2. Dublin, Ireland, servicing
Ireland. 3. Sittingbourne, England, servicing England and Wales), Headquarters in Japan, the
inventory control (takes place in EDC) and the retailers, where we ship our products to.

Last but not least. Our customers can be divided into 2 segments, these consists of the online
customer, and customers in the store.

The arrows in the graph already give a lot of information about our scope diagram. We start with
the suppliers and then especially the global suppliers, they send the commodities to the
factories and the material manufactures to make one product out of it. Then it goes to the EDC
in Venlo and the RDC’s in the UK. The EDC send the products to retailers. And the RDC send
the products to both customers who are buying our products.
2. Geographic map

The geographic map illustrates the supplying nodes around the world of Uniqlo. The official
head quarter is located in Japan. To start with, after receiving feedbacks from customers, the
quality of manufactured products is checked by supervisors of the Head quarter in Japan by
making weekly visits to the factories in Ho Chi Minh, Quanzho, Bali, Istanbul and
Barcelona. After the products were finished, they are directly delivered to European
Distribution Center in Venlo. When the goods are carefully checked, they are shipped to
Regional Distribution in UK based on the demands of retailers. Finally, productions are sent
to retailers, where customers can pick up or shipping to online customers.

3. Thread diagram
Above you can see the thread diagram of that shows us the information and materials flow from
the UNIQLO supply chain system.
Firstly, the raw materials from the (global) suppliers go to the factories where the finished goods
are produced. After this the finished goods are directly sent to the EDC. The EDC’s sends the
finished goods to the RDC’S, finally the RDC’S ship the finished goods directly to the retail
stores.
The suppliers and the factories both communicate with the design and production planning. The
quality is checked by supervisors (of the HQ) by making weekly visits to the factories. EDC
communicates with the retail stores in order to make a plan about the supply to the stores through
RDC’s.

4. Flow chart

The process starts when the company receives the products shipped from its global partners to
EDC in Venlo. First, the order document is checked to see if it is matched with the products EDC
had ordered. If the documents are matched, the goods will be store as-is basis, which means
employees don’t check what is inside the boxes. Not until EDC receive order for replenishment,
the bulk will be broken, necessary boxes will be picked and moved to the consolidation area.
The consolidated shipment is then delivered by truck to the respective outlets. The pallets will
then be remained at EDC because RDCs only receives the boxes and returning the pallets.
