1 Technical Description

1.1 Automatic lubrication The serial manual central lubrication facilitates the lubrication of a
function construction group from one single point. Thereby the lubricant is
delivered to the respective lube points by a central lubricant dis
tribution block. The lubricant supply is carried out manually (seri
ally) via a manual pump or a lubrication pump (optional) that pumps
the lubricant to the central distribution block .

1.4 Pressure relief valve

EZ002_02_06501GB 3

The QLS 401 is secured with a pressure relief valve. If it is actuated,

there is a malfunction in the system. In this case the lubricant flows
back into the tank (hardly visible).
Upon expiration of the monitoring time (see further on) the pump
switches off. The fault indication Er" is displayed on the keypad of
the pump.

1.5 Programming Various settings in the central lubrication installation are set ex
works. These settings regulate the lubrication intervals and the lu
brication time. Have the default settings modified by the After Sales
Department if either the lubrication intervals or the lubrication times
do not meet your needs.

Interval time The interval time is the time between two lubrication processes. The
interaval time only runs down when the ignition is switched on. The
interval times are retained during interruptions. The new times are
added on restarting.

Basic setting of the interval time ex works: 20 min

Operation time Operation time is the time in which the central lubrication pump is in
operation during a lubrication process. The operation time is con
trolled by the system via the piston detectors and limited by the
monitoring time.

Monitoring time The monitoring time starts with switching on the central lubrication
pump . Monitoring time is the time in which the piston detector has
to confirm with a checkback signal. The monitoring time is set at 25
min by the manufacturer.

Note
If another interval is necessary because of the local conditions, it
can be changed. Please contact the after sales service of the al
liance Sika−Putzmeister.

Note
An additional lubrication can also be carried out up to 3 times with
out the system being connected. The automatic lubrication cycle is
interrupted after the third notice grease tank empty".

Switch on

After switching on the pump (on), the segment on the right of the
display lights up (pausing time is counting).

Lubrication time

During lubrication time of the pump, a rotating beam light appears

on the display of the plastified keypad.

If the power supply is interrupted during lubrication time, and then

connected again, the lubrication time starts from that point where it
has been interrupted.

Malfunction

If the proximity switch of the lubrication pump is not actuated, an

error indication is generated.
Possible causes

" Exceeding the monitoring time of 25 min (fixed time in the VDC
model) after triggering an additional lubrication or

" exceeding the maximum pressure of 205 bar

" An empty lubricant tank

Note
If there is a malfunction <Er>, the QLS 401 no longer switches on
automatically.

Carrying out an additional lubrication

" If there is power supply, an additional lubrication can always

be carried out.

" For this, keep the button pressed for more than 2 seconds.

A possible indication of a malfunction is thereby deleted if the oper

ation has been carried out without any failures.

" Fill tank via the filling nipple 1 up to the marking MAX.

" While filling, avoid closing air into the lubricant.

Note
When working with the central lubrication installation, keep it clean!
Dirt in the system leads to malfunctions.
The grease has to be free from contaminations and may not change
its consistency in the course of time.

Danger
For cleaning the installation, use benzine or paraffin. Do NOT use
Tri, Per or similar solvents and polar, organic ones like alcohol, meth
anol, acetone or the like.

" Triggering an additional lubrication until lubricant comes out.

The control pin (see description) is moving over the proximity
switch.

3 Troubleshooting

In this chapter, possible causes for malfunctions and their remedy

regarding the lubrication pump will be described
