HONEYWELL MICRONIK 200 APPLICATION

GENERAL

OPTIONS FOR ALL APPLICATIONS

Remote Control Point Adjustment (CPA). The controller control point can be remotely adjusted through a range of ±5K using
a control point adjustment potentiometer in discharge air applications or a room sensor with control point adjustment
potentiometer in room control applications connected to terminals 2&4. The configuration parameter C.05 (CPATYP) has to be
set to 1, 2 or 4 in accordance to the used potentiometer resistance range.
Remote Setpoint Adjustment (RSA). The controller setpoint can be remotely adjusted through a range of 15...30°C using a
room sensor with setpoint adjustment potentiometer connected to terminals 2&4. The configuration parameter C.05 (CPATYP)
has to be set to 3.
Comfort/Standby Mode. The controllers provide occupied and unoccupied temperature setpoints. Connecting a room
temperature sensor with occupied/unoccupied switch or a presence sensor to the controller occupancy input terminals 1&4
allows to change the controller into Comfort (closed contact) or Standby (open contact) mode.
Summer/Winter Compensation. When an outside air temperature sensor (T3) is connected to terminals 7&8 winter and/or
summer compensation of the main setpoint can be performed.
Summer/Winter Changeover. The occupancy input, terminals 1&4 on the R7426A controllers can alternatively be used to
switch the controller between summer (cooling) and winter (heating) operation in applications using a common valve for heating
and cooling control. In summer operation the controller provides a direct acting output (Y1), with an increase in the controlled
variable, i. e. room temperature increases, the output increases. In winter operation the controller output (Y1) is reverse acting,
with a decrease in the controlled variable the output increases. Summer/Winter changeover function is activated by setting the
configuration parameter C.15 (Y1CTRF) to 2. A potential free contact or strap-on thermostat connected to terminals 1&4 is
used to switch the controller mode to cooling (contact closed) or heating (contact open) control.

OPTIONS ON CONTROLLERS WITHOUT REAL TIME CLOCK

Controller ON/OFF Operating Mode. Connecting an external time clock or manual switch to the controller Plant/System
ON/OFF input terminals 9&10, the controller can be switched ON or OFF. In the OFF operating mode the controller
automatically generates zero position output signals on all outputs to drive the valve and damper actuators into the fully closed
position. In mixed air damper applications the outdoor and exhaust air dampers are closed and the return air damper is fully
open. The time clock also switches the fan(s) OFF and drives the damper actuators (6) in full outside air applications into the
closed position by an external installed relay, if the dampers are not controlled by the controller. In full outside air applications
the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay to allow the dampers time to open.
NOTE: For Terminals 9&10 see the following Figure without Real Time Clock
ON/OFF 9 Plant /
System
10

Day/Night Setpoint Operation. An external time clock connected to the controller occupancy input terminals 1&4 provides
day/night main temperature setpoint control determined by the programmed offset parameter value P.16 (SOFFS) for those
heating or ventilation systems operating 24 hour per day.

SAFETY FOR APPLICATIONS NO. D10 TO D16 AND R10 TO R16

Safe Operation of Electric Heater Battery. The high limit thermostat (7) installed close to the electric heater battery switches
the electric air heater OFF at temperatures above its adjustable setpoint.
The air flow switch (10) also switches the electric heater battery OFF in the event of fan failure (no air flow). Alternatively, the
differential air pressure switch (9) across the discharge air fan can be used for the same function.
Filter Monitoring. The differential air pressure switch (8) closes a contact to issue an alarm at a differential pressure above its
adjustable setpoint to indicate that the filter is dirty and in need of maintenance.
Fan Monitoring. The differential air pressure switch (9) switches the fan motor OFF at a differential pressure below its
adjustable setpoint to indicate no air flow. An external time delay relay overrides the fan monitoring function for a short period
during start-up to avoid false alarms. The monitoring function is re-established after the adjustable time delay period.

Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal Xp
controller real time clock the different operating control modes Comfort,
Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller
automatically fully closes the heating valve (5), switches the fan(s) OFF and
thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delay
relay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important, to avoid
icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differential
pressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch 0
indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5b) will be closed 0 0 0 Xwh/Xw

Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7)

signal to the controller (4) to fully open the heating valve (5a), to switch OFF the fan(s) and close the dampers (6) by an
external installed relay logic to protect the heating coil from freezing.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating
control modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closes

If the actual temperature is below the setpoint, the controller MINPOS Y2
modulates via output Y1 the heat recovery valve (5b) into the
0
open position. 0 0 0 Xwc/Xw
If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than CTRP1 CTRPC
25% of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band between
Xp XpC T1
heating and cooling - the controller starts to open the energy
recovery valve (5b) to reclaim cooling energy. If the
temperature continues to increase and the energy recovery
valve is fully open, the controller (4) generates an output signal via Y2 to open the cooling coil valve (5b).
In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important to avoid icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differential
pressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5b) will be closed by an
additional, field mounted relay. Return air and warm water will circulate through the heat recovery exhaust air coil to melt the
ice deposits.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating
control modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closes
the valves (5a and 5b), switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delay
relay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

Temperature Control. The discharge air temperature sensor
1/4 Xp
(1) measures the actual value and the controller (4) compares Y (%)
this value with the desired setpoint. If a deviation between the 100

two values exists, the controller generates in correspondence to Y1
the 0...100% correctional signal 0(2)...10Vdc control signals in
sequence via outputs Y1, Y2 and Y3 to position the mixed air Heating Cooling
dampers or cooling valve or to drive the electric current valve to Y3 Y2
maintain the desired discharge air temperature. If the actual MINPOS
temperature is below the setpoint, the controller generates first 0
a 0(2)...10Vdc control signal via output Y1 to reposition the 0 0 0 Xwh/Xwc/Xw
mixed air damper (6). If the temperature continues to decrease CTRPH CTRP1 CTRPC
and the mixed air dampers reached the minimum position XpH Xp XpC T1
(MINPOS), the controller generates a 0(2)...10Vdc control
signal via output Y3 to drive the electric current valve (5a) for
proportional control of the electric air heater. If the temperature
increases the sequence of operation is reversed.
If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25% of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band between heating and
cooling - the controller starts to close the mixed air damper (6). If the temperature continues to increase and the mixed air
dampers reached the minimum position (MINPOS), the controller (4) generates a 0(2)...10Vdc control signal via Y2 to position
the cooling valve (5b).
The minimum outside air damper position adjustment (MINPOS) on the controller determines the position to which the outside
air damper will be driven even though the temperature input condition demands that it should drive to the fully closed position.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating
control modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically generates
0Vac (0%) control signals via output Y1, Y2 and Y3 to fully close the outside and exhaust air dampers (6) and the cooling valve
(5b), open the return air damper and to switch OFF the electric air heater via the current valve (5a). In addition the fans are
switched OFF by the Plant/System On/Off output.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the Plant/System On/Off output switches the fans ON and the controller
provides automatic control.

Temperature Control With Low Limit Control. The return or room air
temperature sensor (1a, b or c) and the discharge air temperature sensor (2)
measure the actual values and the controller (4) compares these values with the

Cascade Temperature Control. The return or room air temperature sensor (1a, b
or c) measures the actual value and the controller (4) compares this value with the desired setpoint (W1) of the master loop.
Depending on the deviation an internal setpoint for the submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, is calculated. At zero
deviation the discharge air temperature is controlled at the programmed setpoint (Wcas) and if a deviation exists, the discharge
air setpoint is altered. The reset span of the discharge air setpoint is limited by the reset span adjustment (Rcas) and the limit
setting (Wlim).
The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actual value and the controller compares this value with the desired
internal calculated setpoint. If a deviation exists, the controller generates a 3-position control signal to reposition the valve (5) to
maintain the desired discharge air temperature. In heating applications the controller output is reverse acting and direct acting
for cooling applications.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heating coil pump ON - if OFF - at temperatures below its
adjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to switch the fan(s) OFF and close the
dampers by an external installed relay logic and fully open the heating valve (5) to prevent the heating coil from freezing.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating
control modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closes
the heating valve (5), switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delay
relay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

the submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, is

The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actual

values exists, the controller generates a 3-position control signal on outputs Y1 and Y3 to reposition either the energy recovery
valve (5a) or the heating valve (5b) in sequence to maintain the desired discharge air temperature.
In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important, to avoid icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differential
pressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5b) will be closed by an
additional, field mounted relay. Return air and warm water will be circulated through the exhaust air heat recovery coil to melt
the ice deposits.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heating coil pump ON, - if OFF - at temperatures below
its adjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to fully open the heating valve (5a), to
switch OFF the fan(s) and close the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic to protect the heating coil from freezing.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating

the valves (5a and 5b), switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delay
relay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

(4) compares this value with the desired setpoint (W1) of the
master loop. Depending on the deviation an internal setpoint for
the submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, is
calculated. 0
The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actual 0 0 0 Xwh/Xwc/Xw
value and the controller (4) compares this value with the CTRPH CTRP2 CTRPC
desired internal calculated setpoint. If a deviation between the XpH Xp XpC T2
two values exists, the controller generates a 3-position control
signal to reposition either the energy recovery valve (5c) or the
heating valve (5a) or the cooling valve (5b) in sequence to maintain the desired discharge air temperature. If the actual
temperature is below the setpoint, the controller modulates first via output Y1 the heat recovery valve (5c) into the open
position and if fully open, the heating valve (5a) is opened in sequence via output Y3. If the actual temperature increases the
sequence of operation is reversed.
If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25% of the throttling range (Xp1) - dead band between heating and
cooling - the controller starts to open the energy recovery valve (5c) to reclaim cooling energy. If the temperature continues to
increase and the energy recovery valve is fully open the controller (4) generates an output signal via Y2 to open the cooling coil
valve (5b).
In an air-glycol-air heat recovery system it is important to avoid icing of the exhaust air coil. This is achieved by the differential
pressure switch (10). If the differential pressure switch indicates icing of the coil, the control valve (5c) will be closed by an
additional, field mounted relay. Return air and warm water will circulate through the heat recovery exhaust air coil to melt the
ice deposits.
Freeze Protection. The freeze protection thermostat (7) switches the heating coil pump ON - if OFF - at temperatures below its
adjustable setpoint. In parallel it provides a digital input signal to the controller (4) to fully open the heating valve (5a), to switch
OFF the fan(s) and thereby to close the damper actuators by an external installed relay logic to protect the heating coil from
freezing.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating
control modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically fully closes
the valves (5a, 5b and 5c) and switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delay
relay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

Temperature Control. The return or room air temperature
sensor (1a, b or c) measures the actual value and the controller
(4) compares this value with the desired setpoint (W1) of the
master loop. Depending on the deviation an internal setpoint for Heating Cooling
the submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, is Y1/Y3 Y2
calculated. At zero deviation the discharge air temperature is 0
controlled at the programmed setpoint (Wcas) and if a deviation 0 0 0 Xwh/Xwc
exists, the discharge air setpoint is altered. The reset span of CTRPH CTRP2 CTRPC
the discharge air setpoint is limited by the reset span XpH Xp XpC T2
adjustment (Rcas) and the limit setting (Wlim).
The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actual Step4 on
value and the controller (4) compares this value with the Power
desired internal calculated setpoint. If a deviation between the Step3 on
two values exists, the controller selects the corresponding Step2 on
number of stages/steps (up to 4 stages linear or 15 stages
Step1 on
binary) for heating or generates a 3-position control signal to Y1 out2
reposition the cooling valve to maintain the desired discharge Y1 out1
on
air temperature. Y3 out2
off Y3 out1
If the temperature is below the heating setpoint the heating
stages are switched via output Y3 and Y1 and if the 20 25 40 45 60 65 80 85 100 % Y3/Y1
temperature is above the cooling setpoint, the cooling valve
(5b) is modulated via output Y2.
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal controller real time clock the different operating
control modes Comfort, Standby, Night or OFF are selected. In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically switches
OFF the selected number of heating stages/steps, closes the cooling valve (5b), switches the fan(s) OFF and thereby closes
the dampers (6) by an external installed relay logic.
If the controller switches from OFF to ON mode, the fan(s) switch ON after a time delay by an external installed time delay
relay. This allows the dampers time to open. As alternative to the time delay relay the end-position switches of the damper
actuators can be used to start the fan.

If the actual temperature is below the setpoint the controller (4) out1/out2

generates first a 3-position control signal via output Y1 to reposition
the energy recovery valve (5c) to reclaim heating energy. If the
temperature continues to decrease and the energy recovery valve is off
fully open, the controller generates a pulse width modulated output 30 50 70 80 100 sec Y3

If the actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25% of the throttling range (Xp2) – dead band between heating

Temperature Control. The return or room air temperature 100
sensor (1a, b or c) measures the actual value and the controller Damper
(4) compares this value with the desired setpoint (W1) of the Y1
master loop. Depending on the deviation an internal setpoint for
the submaster loop, the discharge air temperature, is Heating Cooling
Y3 Y2
calculated. At zero deviation the discharge air temperature is MINPOS
controlled at the programmed setpoint (Wcas) and if a deviation
0
exists, the discharge air setpoint is altered. The reset span of
0 0 0 Xwh/Xwc/Xw
the discharge air setpoint is limited by the reset span CTRPH CTRP2 CTRPC
adjustment (Rcas) and the limit setting (Wlim). XpH Xp XpC T2
The discharge air temperature sensor (2) measures the actual
value and the controller (4) compares this value with the desired
internal calculated setpoint. If a deviation between the two values exists, the controller generates in correspondence to the
0...100% correctional signal 0(2)...10Vdc control signals in sequence via outputs Y1, Y2 and Y3 to position the mixed air
dampers or cooling valve or to drive the electric current valve to maintain the desired discharge air temperature.
If the actual temperature is below the setpoint, the controller generates first a 0(2)...10Vdc control signal via output Y1 to
reposition the mixed air damper (6). If the temperature continues to decrease and the mixed air dampers reached the minimum
position (MINPOS), the controller generates a 0(2)...10Vdc control signal via output Y3 to drive the electric current valve (5a)
for proportional control of the electric air heater. If the temperature increases the sequence of operation is reversed. If the
actual temperature exceeds the setpoint by more than 25% of the throttling range (Xp2) - dead band between heating and
cooling - the controller starts to close the mixed air damper (6).

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Temperature Control. The supply water flow temperature sensor (1) measures
the actual value and the controller (4) compares this value with the actual control
point. The control point comprises the basic setpoint value which is continuously Y1 (%) Cooling
compensated by the outside air temperature sensor (2) value. If a deviation 100
between the two values exists, the controller (3) generates a 3-position control
signal to reposition the valve (4) to maintain the desired supply water temperature.
In heating applications the controller output is reverse acting and a positive winter
compensation authority is used, with decreased outside air temperature the
control point is increased. Heating

In cooling applications the controller output is direct acting and a negative summer 0 Xw
compensation authority is used, with increased outside air temperature the control CTRP1 Ystart T1
point is decreased. Xp
Time Control. Depending on the programmed time schedule of the internal
controller real time clock the different operating control modes Comfort, Standby,
Night or OFF are selected. In the Standby or Night mode the main temperature setpoint is decreased by the programmed offset
values SOFFS (Standby) or NOFFS (Night).
If the configuration parameter C.04 (Ctrltyp) is set to H2, automatically the pump switches OFF at outside air temperatures
above 8°C, if the valve is closed for more than 5 minutes during Comfort, Standby or Night mode.
In the OFF operating mode the controller automatically closes the valve (4) and switches the pump OFF.
