2. Apply the human resource frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other
course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and
format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

The situation I am in is that of a product development individual at Nakona ball gloves, a


leather goods company in Nocona Texas. The situation is that the older individuals in the
organization do not want to innovate and want to stay with the original designs that have
been making the money since the early 1900s. I’m trying to break down those barriers and
keep the company alive by innovating with different leather qualities and attempting to
refresh their brand with the youth.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

Human resources is defined by the department of an organization that deals with hiring,
administrating, and training individuals within an organization. In my opinion, this is one of
Nakona‘s weaknesses. They are mentally set on the old ways of business and how to run an
organization. They are the last remaining glove manufacturer in the United States and that comes
with many issues. Human resources has influenced the situation due to the fact that they do not
hire fresh and young minded individuals who are looking to invade on the Baseball scene.
Wilson and Rawlings are running away with the competition due to the fact that they appeal to
the youth. They appeal to new athletes who tend to like very flashy gloves and leather quality
that will last them years. Nakona is struggling in that department because they are stuck in their
old ways.

They are one of the hardest working organizations when it comes to understanding the construct
of baseball gloves and how important it is to have American manufacturers. The average
American loves to buy locally produce items, and that is one of the reasons they are still floating
in this market. I think one way for them to stand out is for human resources to step off and start
to hire influencer like individuals who will give them the factor of popularity in the youth. They
are so very close to getting that title, and it is so easy. It’s just up to the board and the elders at
the organization to make that call, which is very tough. It will take a lot of change but it is
something that will pay off in the future for them.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of
action regarding your case.

Like stated above, what I would use the human resources for would be to hire influencers
in the baseball community who understand the market. If you can connect to the youth and
make Nakona a “cool” Company, that will drive the youth to wanting to use these
products in the game. Another thing I would do differently is to try and acquire major-
league talent to use the gloves in baseball games, and getting the air time on TV. Some
companies don’t understand how important it is to have major league talent use the leather
on the field, because that proves the point that it is of major league quality.

Another way I would use human resources to better the organization is to train employees
on how to present the glove company. Providing proof of major league talent using the
product is the best way to go, and one spire athletes around United States to use the
product.Company, A mixture of that and having baseball influencers pushing the brand on
all platforms of social media is the best way human resources can better the organization. I
would also focus on making a strong push on YouTube and Instagram because at those
platforms it is basically free marketing for what you show the public. marketing is key in
organizations like these.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned
about this frame.

The things I would not do differently given what I’ve learned about this frame is continue
to push the American made policy. Having the gloves been produced in Texas is
extremely valuable to the worth of this organization. Like stated above, many consumers
of this company are older individuals who care very much about this organizations
production within the United States boundaries. I have a Lotta respect for them making
that decision, but at the end of the day it is not very cost-effective. Like I stated though, I
would keep it that way to maintain brand and customer loyalty.

Something I would not do differently as well is keeping the older individuals and higher
up stakeholders in the organization as well. As much as they disagree with the new
movement in Baseball I still think it is very important to keep them around regardless of
their viewpoint. I think it’s very healthy to have constructive criticism and to be able to
debate individuals within the workspace. I do not agree with him on most friends when it
comes to product development. It is still very healthy to have them within the conversation
to make sure we are all in check at all times. Their framing structure is stable to a point,
and it is just adding flexibility where I think they could thrive. That’s why I would not
change a lot within their organization besides product development.
