An Automotive Waste Disposal for Poultry Farm

I. Introduction

Living in the province is nice. You got to have a nice view of the environment and
be able to breath fresh air. But this province life had such become just a dream when a
poultry farm was built near our area. It was an open area poultry that is why the dirt from
the chickens and pigs stinks. When it rains, we can barely eat because we can smell
the foul odor coming from the poultry. It is understandable that poultry farms are need to
be built in rural areas. The problem is that they don’t have proper waste management of
the wastes from the livestock they are raising. Sometime, they are being stocked just
beside the poultry which really gives bad smell. I am very concerned of what may
happen to us especially in our health if this continue.

As an aspiring Instrumentation and Control Engineer, I have this in my mind to

invent things that can probably help to make human lives easier. The poultry farm as a
community problem in our area, I have thought to invent a system that will make the
poultry farming eco-friendlier. Having this system, poultry owners can build the cages
even in indoor manner as the smell won't stay long in the area. The system will require
a septic tank that will catch the wastes. This will lessen or even eliminate foul smell as
the waste are now directly to the septic tank. The waste dump area will serve as the
processing for the waste that will be turned into fertilizers. Having this system, the
poultry workers do not need to clean all of it manually, they do not need to pile up the
waste,. This won't make the area stinky.

To further understand the concept, I have made an illustration using Sketch Up

portraying the set-up of the equipment as well as their functions and using FluidSim for
its simulation.

II. Objective
o To design and simulate a system
o To make a flow diagram of the system
o To make the cleaning easy and fast
o To make a innovation in poultry farm

III. Components

The list of a components and its addresses in the system are written below.

Symbol Addresses Component

I1 Pushbutton (turn on) Switch button (on)
I2 Pushbutton (turn off) Switch button (off)
O1 T1(5sec) Pump
O2 T2(10sec) Cage
O3 T3(15sec) Septic tank
IV. Drawing & Figures
V. Simulation

The pressing to start the system I1 represent the switch on button that make go
signal for the pump (O1) to intake water from the tank, I put blue indicator light to
represent the pump begin to intake water and I put a 5 sec timer for the pump begin to
intake water to the tank.
Then it push the water to the cages(O2) and start cleaning and I put yellow indicator
light for that with a timer of 10sec. I just put 10 seconds because its just a simulation but
the timer depends how many and how long it takes to clean does cages.
The waste directly goes to a septic tank and represent it with red indicator light with
timer of 15sec. before the water goes to the tank after the system start.
Pressing the I2 which is the off button to stop the whole system.
