Draw and describe the following atomic models. (LMS in PDF format)

1. Democritus Model

According to Democritus' conception,

matter is made up of invisible components called

atoms and a vacuum (empty space). He claimed

that atoms are unchanging and indestructible.

They're also homogeneous, which means they

have no internal structure. His solid atomic

model said that all atoms varied in size, shape,

mass, location, and organization, with a space

between them.

2. Dalton’s Model

All substance, according to Dalton's atomic theory, is made up of atoms, which are indivisible and

indestructible building units. While an element's atoms were all the same size and mass, various elements

possessed atoms of varying sizes and masses. Dalton's atomic theory also suggested that all compounds

were made up of certain ratios of these atoms. Chemical reactions, according to Dalton, result in the

rearranging of the reacting atoms.

3. Rutherford’s Model of Atom

The concept depicted the atom as a small, compact, positively charged center called a nucleus, in

which virtually all of the mass is concentrated, and around which the light, negative components known as

electrons revolve at a distance, similar to planets orbiting around the Sun.

4. Bohr’s Model

The atom is depicted as a tiny, positively charged nucleus surrounded by circling electrons in the

Bohr model. Bohr was the first to discover that electrons circle the nucleus in distinct orbits and that the

amount of electrons in the outer orbit affects an element's characteristics.

5. De Broglie’s Wave Model

The electron is treated as a particle on a ring with wavelike characteristics in the de BroglieBohr

model of the hydrogen atom described here. The theory of de Broglie that matter possesses wave-like

characteristics. As a result of de Broglie's theory, an infinite number of wavelengths must fit within the

orbit's diameter.
