Purpose: To install, upgrade to, or restore the Software Version 5.2.x for the KODAK DIRECTVIEW CR 825/
850/950/975 Systems and the KODAK DIRECTVIEW Classic/Elite CR Systems.

Section 1: Preparing for the Modification or Recovery

Special Requirements
• You must have KODAK Secure Link Client Software Version 2.8 installed on the laptop or other PC that you use
for Secure Link.
• Review the Capture Link Compatibility Matrix on the Carestream Health Service Portal at: Digital
Capture>Capture Link for the latest version of Capture Link that is compatible with Software Version 5.2. This
latest Capture Link must be acquired as a separate kit.
• Remote Access Software (RAS) Version 2.2.6.x and Remote Operations Panel (ROP) Version 2.3.3.5 are the
RAS and ROP versions that are compatible with Software Version 5.2. These versions are included with the
Software Version 5.2 software kits.
• You must have access to the support publications listed in Obtaining the Support Documents.

Section 3: Doing MOD 68/13 for a System with Software Version 5.1.x

Important
• You must do the procedures in this section for MOD 68/13 in the order listed.
• For detailed instructions on how to perform the procedures referenced here, see Section 7.
• This procedure is used to upgrade:
– Maintenance content to the current maintenance release.
– To the latest content that can be purchased. The latest feature option must be enabled.
• The same DVDs are used for both maintenance content and purchased content. The Software Version 5.2 option
feature certificate enables the Software Version 5.2 purchased content.

To do an upgrade for a system with Software Version 5.1.0x.50 or 5.1.0x.51 for the HP 5700:
[1] Do Checking the Modification and Software Installation Kit on Page 25 for the corresponding CR System.

Important
If you have a USB bar-code scanner, you do NOT have to disconnect the keyboard to connect the bar-code scanner.
[2] Do the Preparing for the Software Installation on Page 25 to:
• Disconnect:
– bar-code scanner
– KODAK DIRECTVIEW Capture Link System - if the CR System is part of the Capture Link System
• Connect:
– keyboard
– mouse

Important
• Your system operation might not be correct if a connection is not correct.
• Checking your connections might prevent the need for a software recovery.

You must record the Network Configuration Data manually. The data is not stored in any backup location.

• If you have a 19 in. ROP connected to a CR System with Software Version 5.2.x, you cannot connect the 19 in.
ROP to a CR System with an earlier software version at the same time.
• Software Version 5.2.x includes the software refresh feature, which is only available to customers who have
purchased it. See Service Bulletin, 7H9511.
• The types of software refresh include:
– Basic Software Refresh: The customer must purchase the necessary hardware separately.

Extracting the Options from a System with Software Prior to Software Version 5.2

Important
• The AddOnOptionConverter.exe utility must be run on a system prior to upgrading the system to Software
Version 5.2.x.
• The AddOnOptionConverter.exe utility extracts the options from a system with Software Version 5.1.x or 4.x.
• The AddOnOptionConverter utility and the related files can be obtained from the Carestream Health Service
Portal. It is also on a CD provided with the Software Version 5.2 kit.
[1] Obtain:
• AddOnOptionConverter.exe utility
• msvcr80.dll file
• msvcp80.dll file

System to boot from the DVD.
• If the CR System does not boot from the DVD, you must de-energize the CR System and do Step 1 and Step 2
again.
[1] Energize the CR System.
[2] Insert the Software Version 5.2 DVD into the DVD drive.
[3] Reboot the PC and press F12 at startup to get the Boot Menu.
[4] When prompted for a password, enter 518699.
[5] At the message “Press Enter to Select Boot Device, ESC to Exit.”, select CD-ROM.

[12] If you do not see targets in both halves of every circle pattern at the CR System, do Doing the Calibration for
the Luminance of the Monitor on Page 73.
[13] Send an image to all destinations.
[14] If you do not see targets in both halves of every circle pattern at the destination:
• Calibration of the destination is necessary, or
• Image space at the destination does not match the CR System. For example, P-values are sent to a
destination expecting luminance values.
[15] At the PEC Information screen, check that the bar-code reader scans the information correctly.
[16] Check for correct operation:
• All equipment
• HIS/RIS
• Interlock switch
