To whom it may concern,

I am seeking appointment to fill the vacancy of Douglas County Commissioner for District 1. I have served the
South Omaha community for more than 20 years as the former President of the Highland South-Indian Hill
Neighborhood Association, a Heartland Workers Center Board Member and current President of the South
Omaha Neighborhood Alliance. My strong and consistent advocacy for South Omaha businesses and families
makes me the most qualified candidate for this position.

In addition, I am currently an elected official serving on the Omaha Public Schools Board of Education where our
budget is larger than the Douglas County budget and the City of Omaha’s general fund. My experience on the
board has given me a significant understanding of governing for a workforce, constituency, and a budget.

As a strong South Omaha advocate with a history of dedication to the betterment and empowerment of all who
live here, I am confident that I will prove to be an asset to South Omaha and the County Board and respectfully
submit my application for your review. I look forward to meeting with you to discuss this appointment further. I
am available at your convenience.

Sincerely,

Kimara Snipes
President/Member
South Omaha Neighborhood Alliance/Omaha Public School Board of Education
