At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. identify the different characteristics of living and non-living things

b. differentiate correctly living things and non-living things by classifying it: and

c. reflect on the role of living and non-living things in our environment by writing his/her
reflection on paper.

“Before we proceed to our new lesson, can

use to see, hear, smell, taste, or feel things”

types of sense organs and its function”

lll. ABSTRACTION

“Now, the purpose of this game is for you to


be able to have an idea on what are the things
that can be seen in our environment and to
know if it is a living or non-living things ”

“The term living thing refers to things that are


now or once were alive. That’s why In order
for something to be classified as living, it must
grow and develop, be respond to its
environment, and adapt.

‘When we say grow it is undergo natural


development by increasing in size and
changing physically. For example human. Are
we humans Grow?
“Yes!”

“Okay, because as the time goes by we


changed our sizes or our height from being so
small we become tall did you get it?”

“Yes!

”Okay. How about Plants?


Are plants Grow?
“Yes!”

“Are plants Alive?”

“Yes”
“But how the plants Grow? And what are the
things that help the plants to grow?”

“Number 1 that need of a plant is a sunlight it


is the essential thing for a plant to grow,
second is water third is what?”

“ma’am, Soil”

“Okay Very good! Meaning to say all the


things that you see in our environment that
are alive are considered as a living things”

“Now, what is Non-living Things?”

“Non-living things are the things which cannot


grow, move, and breathe”

“These are some examples for non-living


things, rocks, bucket and water”

“Another example is this pen, is this non-living


things or living a thing?”

“Okay very good! Because this pen can’t move


unless you used your hands to move this” did

“Yes ma’am”

“Now, did you understand the meaning and


the differences of Living and non-living
things?”
“Yes Ma’am!”

“Okay very good! Just remember the meaning


of these two. When we say living things these
are something that have life while non-living
things these are the things that do not alive.
Okay? Did you understand?”
“Yes ma’am”

IV. APPLICATION

“Now, get a half sheet of pad paper and in


one paragraph explain the importance of living
and non-living things in our environment. You
only have 5 minutes to finish your work.

“Is that clear?”


“Yes ma’am”

“And also after that, I need 2 volunteers to (Students read their works)
read his/her works in front of the class”

“That’s correct! Very good”

V. EVALUATION

Direction: Look at the pictures below. Encircle


(O) the things that are living and Cross(X) out
the things that are not living.
“Are you done?”

“Yes ma’am”
“Okay, Pass your paper on center aisle and
pass it forward”

VI. CLOSURE

“Okay for your Homework, I will give you


copy of a short story, your task is to identify
and encircle the living and non-living things.
Submission of your assignment is on our next
meeting. Is all clear?”
“Yes ma’am”

“Do you have any questions?”

“Okay, That’s all for today. Goodbye Class!
