Instructional sequences

Objectives:

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

a. define what is Direct Proportions

b. Calculate the missing term proportion and

c. Value the importance of proportions in our daily lives

Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

Procedure:

Priming

A. prayer

“Good morning class!”

“Good morning ma’am”

“Could anyone lead us in Prayer?”

(The student lead a prayer)

B. Checking attendance

“Okay class, as I call your surname say

present. Is that clear?”

“yes ma’am ”

(calling names)

“Present ma’am”

“Okay, very good because no one is absent for

today”

Review

“Before we proceed to our new lesson, can

someone recall our last topic discussed?
“ma’am last meeting we discussed about
ratio”

“So, what do we mean by ratio?”

“Ratio is the quantitative relation between two

amounts showing the number of times one value
contains or is contained within the other”

“Very good! can you give me an example ”

“the ratio of Girls to Boys inside the

classroom is 23:16”

“Okay very good! It seems like you already

mastered our last topic”

PRE-ASSESSMENT

Motivation

l. ACTIVITY

A. (INDIVIDUAL TASK)

“Are you familiar with Name my price?”

“No ma’am”
“Okay, Today we are going to play this game.
Everybody look on the board as you can see
here, we have 2 tables here, table 1 is for the
items and table to is for its price. Now, I have
here some pictures and as I call your surname
I want you to go in front and place the picture
in tabler 1 and guess what is the price of each
items
“okay? Are we all clear?”
“Yes ma’am”

“Are you Ready?”

“Yes ma’am”

“Mendoza”
“Fetesio” (the students comes in front to put the
“par” pictures on the table and name their price)
“Adama”
“Silva”
“gilana”
“regio”
“okay”
“casilan”
“soria”
“olicia”

“okay class thank you”

ll. Analysis

“What are the pictures that you put on table 1

and what do you think is the price of your
item?”

“The tomato cost 140/kg”

“The Squash cost 35/kg”

“The Carrots cost 100/kg”

“The eggplant cost 60/kg”

“The Chico cost 80/kg”

“The Banana cost 70/kg”

“The Mango cost 95/kg”

“The apple cost 60/kg”

“The Melon cost 70/kg”

“The Orange cost 50/kg”

“Okay, very good”

lll. ABSTRACTION

“Now, the purpose of this game is for you to be

able to have an idea about our topic for today”

“Our topic for today is all about Direct

proportions. When we say Direct proportion it
is the relationship between two variables when
their ratio is equal to a constant value.

“Let us use as an example for number 1 is

Tomato. Here is the problem
If 6kg of tomatoes cost 240 pesos. How much
must we pay if we buy 11kg of Tomatoes?

Take a look at this table

Tomatoes 6kg 11kg
Cost 240 ?

Solution:
Let the cost of 4kg tomatoes be x

6 11
240 x

Now, Use Cross multiply so we can Get

6x = 11x240
Now, transfer the 6 into right hand side so
we Get
X=11 x 240
6
Let us divide first the 240 to 6
X= 11 x 240 =40
6
So now we get
X= 11 x 40
If we multiply this we can get
X= 440

Therefore, the Cost of 11kg of tomatoes is 440

Pesos

Did you understand?

“Yes”
“You want more examples?”

“Okay number 2 example. “Yes ma’am”

The cost of 7 books is 590. What is the total
cost if we buy 13 books?
“ma’am, Soil”
Let us draw a table first
Books 7 13
Cost 590 ?

For the Solution:

Let the cost of 13 books be x

7 13
590 ?

What is the next step?

“Ma’am Cross Multiplication”
“Okay Very good”

So, we get

7x= 13 x 590
Now, transfer the 7 into right hand side so
we Get what?
“X= 13 x 590”
“Very good” 7

Next, Divide 590 to 7

X= 13 x 590 = 84.29
7
So now we get
X= 13 x 84.29
If we multiply, what would be the answer?
“ 1,095.77”
“Okay Very good”
therefore, The total amount/cost of 12 books
is 1,095.77

Did you get it?

“Yes ma’am”

IV. APPLICATION

“Now, I prepare a worksheet for you class. I

want you to answer and solve the problem.
Is that clear? I will give 15 minutes to finish
your work?

“Yes ma’am”
Direction: Solve the missing term proportion.
Write your answer on right side if your paper.
Problem Answer
It takes 3.5 Liters
of water to Fill the 13
Glass. How much
water do we need to
fill the 26 glass?
Given that y=133
when x=10, find the
value of y when x=3
If 56 apples cost 145
pesos. What is the
total cost of 96
apples?

“Are you done?”

“Not yet”

“Okay Last 2 minutes”

“Past your paper on the center aisle and past it

forward”

“All papers are here?

“Yes ma’am”

V. EVALUATION

For your last activity. Get a half shit of pad

paper. I want you to copy and Answer the
problems on the board.

1. 3 13
160 ?
Let the cost of 13 alcohol be x
2. 6 13
235 ?
Let the cost of 13 bananas be x

3. 13 28
456 ?
Let the cost of 28 boxes of Facemask be x
4. 7 17
350 ?
Let the cost of 17 flowers be x
5. 10 15
856 ?
Let the cost of 15 cakes be x

Are you done? “Yes ma’am”

“Okay pass your paper”

VI. CLOSURE

“Okay, for your assignment I want you to

search about subtraction of fraction and also
the examples. Because that is our next lesson
I want you to read in advance”
Are we all clear?
“Yes ma’am”

“Do you have any questions?” “None”

“Okay God bye class!”

“Goodbye and thankyou teacher Florian”
