A. Daily Routine
1. Prayer
“Let us all stand up. Nolan, can you
please lead the prayer for today?
(Nolan will lead the prayer)

2. Greetings
“Good Morning Class!”

“Good Morning Ma’am!”

“Before you sit down, please pick up

the pieces of paper and arrange your
chairs.

3. Checking of Attendance
“Niko, who is absent for today?”

“No one is absent for today Ma’am!”

“I am happy to hear that you are all

present for today.

“Before we start let us all stand up and

let’s dance!”

(Students will stand up and dance)

4. Drill
“Class, do you know what fruit
Zambales is famous of? Raise your
hand if you want to answer.”

(Students will raise their hand)

“Yes Jason?”

“Mango Ma’am!!”

“That’s right!” Do you know where can

you find a lot of mango stalls every
mango season here in Iba?”

“Yes, Lyca”

“Beside Kapitolyo Ma’am!”

“That’s right! Now who wants to play a

game!
(Students will their hands)

(Teacher will pick 10 students)

“Make two lines with 5 members each.
I am the mango vendor and you are
going to buy mangoes from me. Each
member will walk towards me and buy
these mangoes. But you can only buy it
through answering the multiplication
drill written in the back of the mangoes.
The first group to get all the five
mangoes will win this game.”

“Did you understand the instruction?”

“Yes Ma’am!”

(Teacher will start the game)

(Students will participate in the game.)

Congratulations to the winner. Let’s

give them a clap.
5. Review
“Okay class, let us have a review on the
parts of the multiplication sentence.”

“Can anyone give me the three parts of

multiplication sentence?”

(Students will raise their hands)

“Yes Roselyn?”
“The three parts of the multiplication sentence
are the multiplicand, multiplier, and product”.

“Very Good Roselyn”

(Teacher will show a multiplication

sentence on the board)
5x8=40

“Who wants to identify the parts of

multiplication sentence on the board?
Raise your hand.”

“Rico Jay, box the multiplicand in the

given multiplication sentence in the
board.
(Student will box the number 5)

“James, encircle the multiplier in the

given multiplication sentence on the
board.
(Student will encircle the number 8)

“Aries, underline the product in the

given multiplication sentence on the
board?
(Student will underline the number 40)

“Very Good Rico Jay, James and Aries.

Your answers are all correct. Class let’s
give them claps.
(Students will clap their hands.)

Is there any more questions about the

multiplication sentence?

“None ma’am!”

Good to hear that class.

6. Motivation
‘’Class. Do you know what sweet
delicacy Iba is known for?

(Students will raise their hands)

“Yes, Sharmaine?”

“Pastillas Ma’am!”

“Very good Sharmaine!”

“Now, I want you to form 2 groups with
12 members each. I will give 12
pastillas to each group. Line up parallel
to each other.”
‘(Student will form 2 groups with 12 members
and line up parallel to each other)

(Teacher will place one box opposite

for each group)

‘’Each member will run towards the

box and put one pastillas inside it then
go back to the line. The first runner will
tap the next runner shoulder to signal
that he will be the next. This will
continue until the 12th member has
placed his/her pastillas in the box. The
first group to complete will be the
winner.

‘’Is that clear’’

‘’Yes Ma’am!’’
“If you understand the instruction, can
you repeat it Juvy?”

(Juvy will repeat the instruction)

“Thanks Juvy! And since you already
understand the instruction we will now
start the game.”

(Class will participate in the game)

‘’Congratulation to the winner. Please

go back to your seats now.”

(Students will go back to their seats)

B. Lesson Proper

1. Discussion

‘’Class, who wants to count the pastillas

in box A?

(Students will raise their hands)

‘’Jenna, Roselyn, and Charmaine, get
the pastillas in the box A and count it.
Write your answer on the board.”

(Students will follow the instruction and write

12 on the board)
“So how many pastillas are there in box
A?

“12 Sir”
‘’How about in box B?

‘’Camela, Lyca, and Mary Ann, get the

pastillas in Box B and count it. Write
your answer on the board.

(Students will follow the instruction and write

12 on the board)
“So how many pastillas are there in box
B?”
“12 Ma’am”

‘’How many balls are there in all?’’

“24 Ma’am”
(Teacher will write the complete
addition sentence 12+12=24)

‘’Now we will write this addition

sentence into a multiplication
sentence.’’

‘’How many pastillas do we have per

group Rolly?

“12 Ma’am”.

‘’And how groups of pastillas are there?

“2 Ma’am”

(Teacher will write the multiplication

sentence on the board)

12x2=24

“By the given multiplication sentence

on the board, what do you think is our
topic for today?”

“Yes Niko?”

“Our topic for today is multiplication of 2 digit

number by 1 digit number Ma’am!”

“That is correct Niko!”

“Our topic for today is Multiplying 2

digit numbers by 1 digit number
without regrouping."
I have here some problems and I want you to
help me solve these. Is that okay?
“Yes Ma’am!”

‘1. Bumili si Ella ng 2 kahon ng lapis. Bawat

kahon ay 21 na lapis. Ilan lahat ang
nabili niyang lapis?

‘’If we will place all the longs, and ones

all together what will be the product?

“How many ones are there?”

“4 Sir”

“So 4 multiply by the value of ones

which is 1 is equal to?
(4x1=?) ‘’4 sir’’

“Now, how many longs are there?”

“8 Sir”

“So 8 multiply by the value of long

which is 10 is equal to?
(8x10=?) “80 Sir”
“Very Good!”
So what is the total value of 8 longs and
4 ones?

80+4=?

“So 4 groups of 21 is equals to 84.”

(4x2=84) “84 Sir”

“We will now solve this problem by

place value.”

“So how are we going to multiply the

numbers in vertical form?”

“We will do it by place value.

TENS ONES
2 1
X 4
4

“Multiply the digits in the ones place.”

(4x1=4)

“Place the answer in the ones place.”

TENS ONES
2 1
X 4
8 4

“Then, multiply the multiplier by the

digit in the tens place.”

(4x2=8)

“Place the answer in the tens place”

“So the product is 84.’

“Did we get the same answer using the

two methods?” “Yes Sir”
“Do you want another example?”

2. Ang tanim ni Mario na 3 puno ng Yes Ma’am!

mangga ay namunga ng tig 12 na piraso
ng manga. Ilan lahat ang bunga ng
kanyang mga puno ng mangga?

‘’If we will place all the longs, and ones

all together what will be the product?

“How many ones are there?” “6 Ma’am”

“So 6 multiply by the value of ones

which is 1 is equal to?
(6x1=?) “6 Ma’am”

“Now, how many longs are there?”

“3 Ma’am”

“So 3 multiply by the value of long

which is 10 is equal to?
(3x10=?) “30 Ma’am!”
“Very Good!”
“So what is the total value of 3 longs and
6 ones?”

30+6=?

“So 3 tress with 12 mangoes each is 36.”

(12x3=36)

“We will now solve this problem by

place value.”
“So how are we going to multiply the
numbers in vertical form?”
“We will do it by place value.

TENS ONES
1 2
X 3
6

“Multiply the digits in the ones place.”

(2x3=6)
“Place the answer in the ones place.”

TENS ONES
1 2
X 3
3 6

“Then, multiply the multiplier by the

digit in the tens place.”
(3x1=3)
“Place the answer in the tens place”
“So the product is 36.’

“Did we get the same answer using the

two methods?” “Yes Sir”

“May, which of the two methods do you

like more and why?”
“I like the method in which we use the longs,
and ones because it just use repeated addition
to get the product.”
“How about you Daisy, which of the two
methods do you like more and why?” “I like the place value method because it has a
shorter process to get the product.”

“Very good, May and Daisy.”

2. Group Activity
“I will divide you into 4 groups. The
division of members will depend on the
number I gave to your earlier. Two
groups will answer the activity card
using, longs and ones while the other
two groups will use the place value
method. I will give you 5 minutes to
finish the activity and after that select a
group member to explain your answer
in front”

(The teacher will give the activity card

1 to group1)

ACTIVITY CARD 1
Find the product using longs (Group 1 will do the activity card assigned to
and ones. them and present in front afterwards.)
a. 34x2

a. 23x3
b. 42x2

“Very good students on your group

activity. Now let’s try to solve more!

3. Application
“I have here a multiplication scroll. Solve
this in form using the board and marker

1. Bumili si Nena ng 11 na nandesal na

may halagang 4 piso kada isa. Magkano
lahat ang kaniyang binayaran?

11x4=44

2. Si Rolly ay may 13 na manok at bawat

manok ay may 3 itlog. Ilan lahat ang
itlog na nakuha nya sa kanyang mga
manok?
13x2=26

3. Binigyan ni Juan ang kanyang 31

kaklase ng tig 3 holen. Ilan lahat ang
holen na naipamigay niya?

31x3=93

4. Ang isang kahon ng mamon na

binebenta sa panaderya ay may laman
na 12 mamon. Ilan lahat ang mamon
kung bibili ka ng 4 na kahon?

12x4=28

5. Magkano lahat ang babayaran ni Lina

kung siya ay bibili ng 23 piraso ng
kalamansi na may presyong 3 piso kada
isa?

23x3=69

4. Generalization
“I know you’ve learn a lot from this day’s
discussion. So anyone, how do we multiply
2 digits numbers by 1 digit number without
regrouping?

(Students will raise their hands)

“Yes, Niko?”

“We will first multiply the ones and write the

answer on the ones place. Next is we multiply
the number in tens place by the multiplier and
write the product under the tens place.

“Thank you Niko! Very good.

“Is there any more questions?

“None Sir!”

IV. Evaluation
