A. DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES

1. Presentation
“Me!”
“Today, we will have our math class! Who loves
math?”

“And our lesson for today is about Philippine

money.”

“But before we start our lesson, let us watch this

short video for you to have an idea on what we’ll
be learning today.”

“Okay, everyone please close your mouth and

watch the video.”

(Play a video about the Philippine.) “Money! Philippine Money!

“Coins and Bills”
“Okay! What is the video all about?”
“Very good, it is about money. Do you have
money? And do you do with your money? “Yes!”

“Yes, we use money to buy things. Do you also

save your money? Who has piggy banks here?”

“Okay we will be learning about Philippine coin

and money.” “To buy foods and toys!”

“So, is money important? Why?”

“Very good, money matters a lot in our daily life.

We need money when we buy things.
We also get money when we sell things.”

“Remember to save money also, so that when

you buy something you can use your saving, or
you can save to buy what you want. For example,
if you want to buy a present for mommy or
daddy you start saving and when the amount is
already reach, you can buy what you want for “Coins!”
them.”

“Okay kids look, what are these?”

“Bills!”
“Coins very good.

“What about these?”

“These are bills.”

“Now look at these Philippine coins. We will be

learning them all. We have 7 different coins, this “Yes!”
is the front and this is the back part of the coin.”

“First, let us learn the centavos or cents. The cent

sign is a letter c and a horizontal line in the
middle like this. Can you see it?”

“Okay the first, centavo is the 1 cents. We write

it with the sign like this, 1 ₵. Remember that the
cent sign, comes after you write the number. This
is the front of a one cent and this the back. In the
front of a one cent, is written ‘1 sentimo’.

“Okay next one, is the five cents or five

centavos. And we write the five cents with its
sign like this, 5 ₵ . Remember, to put the cent
sign after you write the number.”

“Next, this is the 25 cents. Look at the front of “Three!”

the cent, it is written 25 sentimo. Sentimo is
centavo in English.” “1 cent”
“5 cents”
“That is all for the cents in the Philippine coins, “25 cents”
how many Philippine cents do we have?”

“Three, very good. And what is these Philippine

cents?”

“Good, it is 1 cent, 5 cents and 25 cents.”

“Okay, let’s move on to the Philippine peso. This

is the sign of peso. It is a letter P with to sleeping
line.”

“Okay, the first coin is one peso. So it is written

like this. When you right peso with its sign, you
write the sign first then the number. Like this.”

“In front of the one-peso coin, is written 1 piso.”

“Next is the five-peso coin. In front of it written “before the number!”

5 piso. Remember that when you write it with
sign, the sign always comes first.”

“Then we have the ten-peso coin. See, in the

front is shown a 10 piso. And it written like this, “Twenty!”
where should we write the peso sign?”

“Very good, we should write it first.”

“Now, this is the last coin, it is the?” “One peso”

“Five pesos”
“Very good, it the twenty-peso coin. It has the “ten-pesos”
number 2) in front and it looks different from the “twenty pesos”
others because it has gold ring and the silver
color is on the middle.”
“Okay, again what are the peso coins?” (Follows the teacher’s instruction)
“One-peso, five-peso, ten-peso, and twenty-
peso.”

“Okay, we are finished learning about the coins.

Before we move on the bills, put your hands up
and shake, shake, shake. And then roll your
shoulders like this.”

“Good, now zip your mouths again. Let us now

learn about the different bills. These Philippine
bills are different in colors.”

“Okay the first bill is twenty pesos again. We

have a 20-peso coin and 20-peso bill. Like what
we see, there is a number 20 in front and it is
orange color.”

“Then we have the fifty-peso bill. It is in red

color. And in front, as you can see there is 5O.”

“Next, is the one hundred-peso bill. It is violet in

color. So again, when we write it, the peso sign
always comes first. Like this.”

“Next is the 200-peso bill. It is in green color.”

“Next to the two-hundred-peso bill is the five

hundred-peso bill. It is in yellow color.”

“And last and definitely not the least because it “20 pesos, fifty pesos, one hundred
has the biggest amount or value on the Philippine pesos, two hundred pesos, five
bills. It is blue in color, the one-thousand-peso hundred pesos and one thousand
bill. Wow!” pesos.”

“Green!”
2. Analysis “Blue!”
“Okay, so what are different bills?”

“Very good! 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000

peso bills. What is the color of the 200-peso
bill?”

“Green, what about the 1000-peso bill?”

“Again we have 7 coins. 3 cents and 4 pesos.

And we have 6 Philippine bills

“Good job everyone, now let us have our activity

about our lesson to today.”
3. Abstraction “Okay!”

“Okay, for the instruction. You have to write the

correct value of money using the cent and peso
sign. Remember that when you right the cent
sign, it must be after the number and if it is peso
sign, then it is written before the number.”

“Wait for me to call your name then you can use

the annotate to answer. Okay?”

“Number 1, Nixie. Number 2, Pio. Number 3,

Kyle. Number 4, Racky. Number 5, Lucas. Then
Jamie, please answer number 6.”

“Yes, Teacher Chris.”

4. Application

“Now, let us now have a new activity. Did you

have the play money that Teacher Jo instructed
you to prepare?”

“Good. Now, this is Teacher Chris’s store. I sell

toys and foods. Now one by one, I will call out
your name and you will buy something from my
store using the money that you prepared.”
5. Assessment

“Good job everyone, you are really great today!

Now, take out your worksheets in math so that
Teacher Chris can help you answer page number
1.”

“Okay, Teacher Chris!”

“Okay, we are done with our worksheets.

Remember to write your names at the top
before you pass it to teacher later. And don’t “Good bye, Teacher Jo. Good bye,
forget also to answer page two, which is your Teacher Chris. Good bye Ma’am Cla,
assignment.” see you tomorrow!”
“Before we leave let us sing our good bye
song!”

(Plays the good bye song)

“Good bye everyone! See you tomorrow!”
