D. Lesson Proper “Yes, teacher!”

“Yesterday, we embarked on an exciting journey into the

world of sound and silence.”

“The lesson aimed to introduce you guys to the

fundamental concepts that define these two intriguing
elements.”

“Now to continue our lesson in music I’m going to

introduce to you a new topic.”

“What is a beat? Does anyone know what a beat is”

“Very good *students name”

(Student answers)
“So in music, beat is the basic unit of time, the pulse, of
the mensural level. The beat is often defined as the
rhythm listeners would tap their toes to when listening
to a piece of music, or the numbers a musician counts
while performing.”

“It’s what makes your toes tippy tappy, makes your

head nod back and forth, also makes you clap”

“Now I’ll play audio clips and I want you guys to guess
what they are and try to recreate them by banging your
desks”

“Ready class?”

“Here’s the first one”

(Plays music) “Ready sir!”

*1 Heartbeat “What sound is it class ?”

“Very good class, now try to copy it by banging your
desks”

“Good Job class”

“Heartbeat sir”
“Now for the second one”

(Plays music)

*2 Drum Roll “How about this class?”

“Good job class, now let’s try to copy it by banging on

our desks ready class?”

“Very good, let’s give everyone 1 stomp, 1 clap,

“It’s a drum roll sir”
hooray”

“Ready class ?

“Now, let’s continue with our discussion”

“We now know that beat is the basic unit of time, the
pulse, of the mensural level.” “Ready sir”
(Students follow)
“Let’s now discuss about steady beats”.

“Is an ongoing, steady, repetitive pulse that occurs in

songs, chants, rhymes, and music. It's the part that
makes you want to tap your toes, clap your hands, or
jump up and dance like no one is watching.”

“Here are examples of steady beats”

“Clock the clock goes tik tok” “TIK TOK TIK TOK”

“how does the clock sound again class”

“Then we have Faucet dripping. Drip drip”

“how does the Faucet sound again class”

“ DRIP DRIP, DRIP DRIP”
“Lastly Heartbeat. Badump, Badump
“BADUMP, BADUMP”
“Wow does the Heartbeat sound again class”

“Very good class, HEP HEP!” “HOORAY”

“Okay class settle down let’s continue” (Students settle down and listen)

“There are 3 regular beats in music, beats of 2, 3 and

lastly 4”
“Moving on to the beats of 2, also known as “cut time”
or “alla breve.” This time signature has two beats per
measure, with a half note equivalent to one beat.”

“Let’s follow the diagram” “Ready go”

(students follow the beat)
“Very good class”

“Now we have beat of 3, “Triple” refers to the three

beats per measure. “Triple” refers to the three beats per
bar.

“Let’s follow the diagram” “Ready go” (students follow the beat)

“Great job class”

Lastly we go to the beats of 4, 4/4 means there are 4

beats in each measure and a quarter note receives one
count.

“Let’s follow the diagram” “Ready go”

“Hooray everyone, you’re all so energetic”

“Let’s give ourselves 3 claps” “Ready 1,2,3” (Students Clap)

“We’ve now covered what a steady beat is and what are

its types, let us now go to another type of beat”

“We have the last one which is No beat”

“No beat is a type of musical anti-meter free from

musical time and time signature. It is used when a piece
of music has no discernible beat. Instead, the rhythm is
intuitive and free-flowing.”

“Examples would be water” (play sounds of water)

“Wind” (play sound of wind)

“Lastly a motorcycle engine” (play sound of

motorcycle)

Can u tell me again what’s the last type of beat? “No beat sir”
“Let’s give 3 big claps to all of us!” “1,2,3,go!”
(Clap! Clap! Clap!) (Everyone clapping their hands)

“And because you participated and listened to our

discussion. Let’s see if you can answer another game of
ours.”

E. Enrichment Activity

“Alright! Since you are all good in identifying beats,

let us try to work on this one. So, first, I will show you
a video on the screen on the things that we have
discussed earlier, I want you all to pay attention to the
instructions on the video”

“Understood?”

“Are you ready?” “Yes, teacher!”

“Okay, let’s proceed!” “Yes, teacher!”

“This is beat or no beat”

(Plays Video)

F. Generalization
“Good work, everyone! Now, let us try to review once “ We talked about Steady beats sir”
again. What did we talk about earlier?”

“Good, what else?” “ Time signatures sir”

“Very good class”

“Good job, everyone! You are all fantastic! I think you

can identify the common beats in your environment
and even in your home by yourselves.”

G. Application

“Alright! Since you can identify the beats by yourselves.

Let’s have one last game. In this part. We will play Let me
hear.”
(Badump, Badump)
“Let me hear a heartbeat”
“Good job!”
(Drip, Drip)
“Let me hear a faucet dripping”
“Nice one!”

“Let me hear a clock tick” “Tik tok, tik tok”
