“So last meeting, we discussed about General Annutiy so, is there

any clarification or question regarding to our topic last meeting?”
“None Ma’am”

C. Developing Activity

“Before we start our discussion, we will have a simple activity”

“Our activity for today is named:4 pics 1 word! All of you will
have chance to answer this activity, I will post the picture here in
front and all you need do to is the guess word and analyze the
picture,

“Very student have a corect answer or particifation will get the prize
or token “
“Yes Maam”
“Is that clear?”

D. Lesson Proper

Lesson 5: Stocks and Bonds

“Before we start our discussion, I will present to you the objectives

of our topic.”

Objective
At the end of this lesson, you are expected to:
1. Illustrates stocks and bonds
2. Distinguishes between stocks and bonds
3. Describes the different markets for stocks ad bonds.

“So, this are the objective that we need to obtain at the end of our
lesson.”

“Now we will be going to proceed to our proper lesson I will going

to discuss to all of you the words that you encounter in our group
activity a while ago.”

“The first one is STOCKS ?” can anyone read (The student will volunteer to read)

“Yes, Eva”
“Stocks share in the ownership of a company”

“Thank you Eva “

“So when we says stocks it is a pieces of a company ownership”

“Do you understand class?”

“Yes Ma’am”

“Next is STOCKHOLDER can any one read”

(The student will volunteer to read)

“Yes les”
“Stockholders may be thought as a partcial
owner of the bussiess”
“Okay,Thankyou les”

“When we say parcial what comes to you mind?”

“Anyone?” (Student raise their hand)

“Yes Vicky”
“It is not the total or incomplete”

“Very good, it is not the total Thankyou vicky!”

“When we say stockholder it is some who has share in a company”

“In addtion stocks have two varieties common stocks and preferred
stocks”

“Next is DIVIDEND when we say divedent it is amount of

stockholders shares of the company earning or profit”

“Do you understand class?”

“Yes Ma’am”

“Next is PAR VALUE the value of the stocks printed in the

certificate In stock market ,the price of a stocks id called market
value”

“Class don’t be confused in par value ad market value”

“Yes Ma’am”

“And class reminder Dividends are computed based on the par value
not on the market value”

“Okay now we have the knowledge about stocks, do you have any
question or clarifficaton?
”None Ma’am”

“let us know how the stockholdes ownership of a company can be

computed”

𝑆𝑜
𝑃=
𝑆𝑟
P-is the part of the stockholders ownership of the company
𝑆𝑜 − is the Number of share which the stockholders owns
𝑆𝑝− Is the Total number of shares issued by company

“And in finding the amount of divident per share here are the
formula”
𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡
𝑛=
𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑠

“When you find the total amount of divident use this formula”
𝑛 = 𝑃𝑎𝑟 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒 × 𝐷𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑑 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑒 × 𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑆ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑒

“ Do you understand class?”

“Yes Ma’am

“Any question or clariffiation?”

“None Ma’am”

Example 1:
Mr. Mercado owns 450 shared of stocks in a comapny thaht issued
8500 shares.what part of comapny is owned by Mr. Mercado?

“What will be our 𝑆𝑜 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑆𝑟 ?”

(Student raise their hand)
”Yes Alex”

“450 and 85000 ma’am”

“Very good,450and 85000 what do you think why 450?”
“Because it is the share of Mr. Mercao i the
company and 8500”
“Okay verygood,Thank you alesx”

450
“So we have P = 85000 “

9
𝑃=
1700
9
“Therefore Mr.Mercado owns 1700 or 0.53% of the company”

“Do you understand class?”

“Yes Ma’am”
Example 2:
A certatin funancial instutions declared a P10,000,000 divident for
the common stocks. If there are a total of 70,000,00 shares of
common stocks,How much is the dividend per shares

“What is our divident and total shares?”

“the divident is 10,000,000 and the total
shares is 70,000 ma’am”
“Verygood,thankyou Ana”

“So e know the dividnet and total share lets subtistute to the fomula”

𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑑

𝑛=
𝑡𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑠ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑠

10,000,000
𝑛=
70,000

“Whats the answer arnold?”

“Php 142.86 Ma’am”

“Very good, how about the others are we have the same answer?”
“Yes, Ma’am”
“How about we ned to know the divident share what will be our
formula?”

”Yes Ana” (Student raise their hand)

“Our fomula is n=Par Value x Divident Rate

x Number share”

“Very good let’s apply on this problem”

Example 3:
A certain corporation declared a 2,5% divident on a stock with a par
value of 1000. Mr. Mercado owns 250 shres of stocks with a par
value of 1000 Hiw much is the divident he received”

“What is our Divident rate,Par Value and Numbr of share?”

“The Divident 2.5% or 0.025 our Par value is

1000 and our number of shares is 250”
“Thank you Les,so lets subtitute to our formula”

𝑛 = 𝑃𝑎𝑟 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒 𝑥 𝐷𝑖𝑣𝑜𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑥 𝑁𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑆ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑒

𝑛 = 1000 𝑥 0.025 𝑥 250

“What is the answer class?”

(Student raise their hand)

“Yes Jm”

“the total divident shrare is 6250”

“Vergood, Are we have the same answer class?”

“Now we all know what is Stock, stockholders, Divident and Par “Yes Ma’am”
value lets talk about Bonds”

“What is BOND,Anyone please read?”

“Bonds are Interest-bearing investment that
guarantee a fixed payment amount on the
bond certificate specified maturity date.”
“Okay thankyou Arman, In other word Bond is a loan provided to an
organization like goverment.Do you understand class?”
“Yes Ma’am”

“In stock there are stockholder and in bond there are also
bondholder what do you think is Bondholder?”
(Student raise their hand)
“Yes,April”

“Vergood, and Bondholders are a holder of bond issue by a “Bondholder are lenders to the organization”
goverment or corporation or bondholder are the first to receive
earning from the instution and do not cast votes at its anual meeting”

“Do you understand class?”

“Yes Ma’am”

“In srock our 𝑃 is the part of stockholder while in Bond 𝐼 is periodic

interest”
“Now Lets solve the 𝐼 or periodic Interest”

Example 1:
𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑡ℎ𝑠
𝐼 = 𝑃𝑎𝑟 𝑉𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒 𝑥 𝑅𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑥
12 𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑡ℎ𝑠
3
𝐼 = 85000 𝑥 0.02 𝑥
12

“What will be the Answer?” (Student raise their hand)

“Yes April”
“425 ma’am”

“Verygood do you have same ansswer class?

“Yes Ma’am”

“Okay Thankyou April”

“How about if a bond is purchase par value or at 100% here are the
fomula the annual interest divided by the purchase price of the bond
and its called current yield”

𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡
𝑌=
𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒

“Lets try this example”

Example 2:
Compute the current yield of a bond whose par value is Php 65000,
and which pays an annual interest of 7%, if
It is prcahased at?
a.Par Value
b. Php 30,000
c. 18,000
“Lets compute first the current yield”

𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡
𝑌=
𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒

(65000)(0.07)
𝑌=
65000

“What will be the answe class?”

“0.07 or 7% Ma’am”
“Verygood class”

“ So know we have Current yield which is 7%”

“Therefore the current yield of a bond purcahsed at a par value is
equal to the interest rate Lets compute the current yield at Php
30,000”
𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡
𝑌=
𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒
(65,000)(0.07)
𝑌=
30,000
𝑌 = 0.1517 𝑜𝑟 15.17%

“Are we same answer class?”

“Yes Ma’am”
“Now lets compute the current yield at 18,000”
𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑢𝑎𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑟
𝑌=
𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑒

(65,000)(0.07)
𝑌=
18,000

𝑌 = 0.2528 𝑜𝑟 25.28%

“Do you undertand class, Any clarifiation in our discussion?”

“None Ma’am”

E. Application
“It seems that you really understood our topic”

“How you do you appy the imporant of stock and bond in your daily
life”
In summary, both stocks and bonds play
important roles in a well-rounded investment
portfolio, and understanding their
characteristics can help individuals make
informed financial decisions. It's often
recommended to diversify investments to
balance risk and return based on individual
”Very good Kyle” financial goals and risk tolerance

F. Generalization

“What is Stock?”
(Student raise their hand)
“Yes Mariel ”
“Stocks it is a pieces of a company
“Very Good Mariel ” ownership”

“How about the Bond?”

“Yes Kaye”
”Bond is a loan provided to an organization”
“Very Good Kaye

G. Fising Skills

Direction: Solve th following Stocks and bonds (5pts each)

1. Compute the curent yield of a bond whose par value is Php

350,00 and which pays an annuwal interest of 2.5% if it is
