Pay periods

Computation of Salaries
Weekly: annual salary / 52hours
Biweekly: annual salary / 26 hours ( once in two weeks)
Semimonthly: annual salary / 26 hours (every two weeks)
Monthly: annual salary / 12 months or 2,496 hours
Key Terms
 Gross earnings (gross pay): the amount earned before deductions.
 Regular Pay + OT Pay
 Regular Pay = # of hours worked X hourly rate
 OT = # of OT hours x OT Rate
 Net earnings (net pay/take-home pay): the amount of your paycheck
 Hourly rate or hourly wage: the amount of pay per hour worked based on a standard
40 hour work week.
 Overtime rate: rate of pay for hours worked that exceed 40 hours per week.
 Time and a half: standard overtime rate that is 1½ (or 1.5) times an hourly rate
 Regular pay: earnings based on an hourly rate of pay.
 Overtime pay: earnings based on overtime rate of pay.

BENEFITS
 Benefits in kind (also called fringe benefits, prequisites, or perks)
 Something that produces good or helpful results or effects or that promotes well-
being : advantage discounted prices and other benefits of a museum membership

He spends 54 hours a week (6 days) with Php 150.00 rate per hour. However every last
week of the month he needs to work 80 hours with additional overtime pay of 25% per hour
from the his original rate per hour.for the preparation of monthly report to the Board of
Directors. He also pays Php 100.00 his Health insurance contribution and monthly
withholding tax for Php 350.00

for 2,500.00, Pag-Ibig 3,100.00, Health Insurance of 1,500.00, Philhealth 800.00, his study
loan worth 2,000.00 monthly and his expenses in canteen worth 6,300.00. But the
manufacturing pay his overtime pay 5,000.00 for extra work last Friday of the month.
