FLANGE WELD TESTERS

General function and application:

PE’s flange weld testers eliminate the
need for a full system hydrotest. The
tools are inserted into the line and
seal either side of the weld area. The
space between the seals is filled with
water and pressurised.

Manufacture

The body of the tool is made from carbon steel and the seals from PE’s proprietary
polyurethane which is a low hysteresis formulation. The tools are fully tested and
certified prior to mobilisation.

Application and operation

The elastomeric seal is expanded radially against the pipe bore, either mechanically
(up to 4 ”) or hydraulically (6 ” and above) to seal off the weld area. The sealed area
is then pressurised through the fill/pressurise port with either liquid or gas to the
required test pressure.
The tools are easily installed and removed. Testing is achieved in a fraction of the
time (and cost) of a full system test. Provision and disposal problems associated
with the test medium are minimised, as are the pre-commissioning requirements after
test completion. The tools can easily be installed and operated by one man.

Configurations, sizes and pressure ratings

The tools are available for rental in sizes up to and including 24 ” and in pressure
ratings up to and including ANSI CL.1500. For equipment above 24 ”, CL.1500 and
specialised applications, please contact our Sales Team or Technical Office.
