From April 1995 to May 1997: Bangalore University

Involved in the following projects while doing Post Graduation in Highway Engineering
“Improvement of Geometrics of traffic junctions in Mysore” for Dalal Consultants
Traffic studies (turning movement counts) were conducted at various congested junctions of Mysore city, based on the peak
hour flows the junction improvement schemes have been developed.
“Pedestrian Safety in Developing Countries – Study in Bangalore” for WS Atkins UK
As a part of study pedestrian count survey was conducted at different mid block and junction locations of Bangalore city, and
the improvement schemes have been prepared for the safe pedestrian movement without conflicting the road traffic.
“Axle load Studies on NH4 (Millers Road, Bangalore)” for Bangalore City Corporation
Axle load study was conducted on Millers Road using portable axle load pad, data was analysed using Microsoft Excel and
Vehicle Damage Factor was established which was used for the estimation of traffic load repetitions on Miller road.
Roughness Studies on Bangalore – Mysore Highway for Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Financing
Corporation (KUIDFC)
Roughness data was collected on Bangalore Mysore Highway using Bump Integrator equipment. The equipment which was
towed to another four wheeled vehicles were driven on both the wheel paths of the highway for two times, the data was
analysed and roughness was estimated in terms of IRI (m/km) from unevenness index.
Effect of Gradient on Speed of Vehicles: as a post graduate student a study has been conducted to observe the effect of
gradient on vehicular speeds. The speed of various types of vehicles is measured at ten different gradient locations on
Bangalore – Mysore highway, a statistical relationship has been developed between them.
Highway Research Project – Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India
As a part of the Road research Project, pavement evaluation studies such as Benkelman Beam Deflection, Roughness,
Physical Measurement of Cracks, Rut and Potholes were periodically conducted and a data bank was maintained. Pavement
deterioration models were developed using that data.
