LASA's Director Delivers Keynote Address at Institution of Engineers (IEI) Event

On April 12, 2023, our esteemed colleague, Sagar Deshmukh, Associate Director, LASA, was invited as
Keynote Speaker at a seminar on “Innovation and Engineered Green” at the Opening of Student Chapter
of the Institution of Engineers (IEI) in collaboration with Civil Engineering Department, PDE University,
and Water Management Forum.

During his address, Mr. Deshmukh emphasized on the importance of collaboration between the industry
and academia to spurt the spirit of innovation as well as early adoption of emerging technologies.
Sharing LASA’s experience in implementing the World Bank assisted, Mehsana-Himatnagar Highway
DBFOMT Four-Lane Project, Mr. Deshmukh illustrated to the forum how LASA’s team worked from
conceptualization to implementation in our planning and design work leading to the deployment of
state-of-the art plants and equipment, reduced GHG emissions, recycling and reuse of pavement
materials, and use of automated machineries, among others. All these interventions ensured reduced

Protect Yourself from Summer Heat

With many parts of world facing extended summer days, it is imperative that we should proactively
work to keep ourselves safe today and for the future.

As we head into the summer months, we would request everyone to be aware of their surroundings to
keep safe.

• Check the weather forecast prior to your outdoor travels

• Do not stay in or leave anyone in closed, parked cars, especially children or pets

• Keep yourself hydrated, especially those who tend to perspire more

• Wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from materials, such as cotton

• If you feel very hot, try to cool off. Open a window, use a fan, or turn on an air conditioner.

• Check for electrical wirings & consider maintenance servicing of electronic equipment

• Switch off & unplug electrical appliances when they are not in use

In addition to all the above, you may consider planting a tree - in your surroundings and anywhere you
may like. Organizations such One Tree Planted 4 and Arbor Day Foundation5 help you plant a tree with a
minimal donation.
