1. Describe what is an organizational model in your own understanding?


An organizational model is a strategy for determines how information flows between
levels within the company. It also ensures that the structure supports the goals of the business.
This allows companies to remain efficient and focused.

2. How does organization model lead to fulfilling the organizational objectives?


Organizational models assist everyone in a company in clarifying and understanding each
other's roles and responsibilities. They aid in the division of labor, efficiency, and the avoidance
of conflicts and ambiguity. As a result, companies get more done with fewer slowdowns and less
discord.

3. Give the importance of designing the organizational structure for a particular type of
organization, entities or in a business set up? How?
Organizational structure provides guidance to all employees by laying out the official
reporting relationships that govern the workflow of the company. The managers or the leader of
the organization should; Define and Support Organizational Mission, Set Organizational
Priorities, and lastly, Determine Departmental and Personnel Functions.

4. Describe TALL and FLAT organization structure. Give its advantages and disadvantages.
Flat Organizational Structure
In a flat structure, front-line employees are empowered to make a range of
decisions on their own. Information flows from the top-down and from the bottom up in a
flat structure, meaning communication flows from top-level management to front-line
employees and from front-line employees back to top management.
Advantages: It is Cost-Efficient, It Promotes Faster Decision Making, It Allows Clear
Communication, and It Requires Less Dominance and Supervision.
Disadvantages: Management Can Easily Lose Control, Work-Relationship Could
Struggle, It Can Create Power Struggle, It Makes Employee Retention Difficult, It May
Hinder Growth, and Can Result to Role Confusion.

Tall Organizational Structure


In a tall structure, managers make most operational decisions, and authority must
be gained from several layers up before taking action. Information flows are generally
one-way in a tall structure – from the top down.
Advantages: great job satisfaction, more delegation, increased communication between
levels of management, flexible and better able to adapt to changes.
Disadvantage: high managerial workload, less opportunity for promotion, more difficult
to coordinate between subordinates.
5. Explain with example the elements of organization structure.
➢ Division of Labor
It is the process of dividing work into relatively specialized jobs to achieve
advantages of specialization. Meaning each task is performed by a separate person or
group of persons. In the manufacturing plant, every worker performs a certain task and
increases productivity and efficiency.
➢ Departmentalization
Departments are organizational units that share a common supervisor and
common resources, are jointly responsible for the performance, and tend to identify and
collaborate with one another. Meaning it refers to how jobs are grouped together.
➢ Span of Control
The span of control refers to the number of individuals who report to a specific
manager or the number of people directly reporting to the next level.
➢ Delegation of Authority
It distributing authority downward in an organization and managers decide how
much authority should be delegated to each job or jobholder.

6. Compare by FUNCTION structure with that of a by PRODUCT organizational structure.


When are you going to use each of the type of structure?

Functional organization structure is commonly used to divide employees based on the


common work process in which they engage. On the other hand, product organization structure
often occurs in companies that divide manufacturing, marketing, sales, or other processes into
certain categories, giving each an important focus on core operations.
