With the boom mode switch, two boom modes can be selected. The power mode yields more boom

Enhanced Operating Performance

The ZX490’s engine speed has been upgraded from 1800/min to 2000/min which has increased the
maximum pump flow by 10% over ZX-3 model. Therefore the speed for light-load works such as a
grading work has been improved.

Pressure Adjustment Feature Protects the Attachments

With the ZX-5 models, the set pressure of the secondary relief valve of the breakers, and the pressure of
the spare port for overload relief, can be controlled electronically. In this way, multiple secondary relief
valves can be installed or overload settings performed.

Like the conventional ZAXIS models, the new ZAXIS offers the ability to easily switch valves and
change set flows using the multi function monitor.

Breaker Alarm Warns of Continuous Use (Optional)

With the new ZAXIS, the operator can set an alarm function that displays a warning icon and sounds a
warning buzzer when there is ‘more than one minute of continuous use’ of the breaker, which is
forbidden during breaker work. This is useful in preventing abnormal wear to the chisel and in protecting
the hydraulic components.

Auto Shut-down That Halts Engine Revolutions

The Auto Shut-down feature causes the engine to automatically slow down and stop after the pilot
control shut-off lever is raised (locked) and some time has elapsed (indicated on the monitor). This is
an effective way to save fuel, and reduce noise, exhaust emissions, and CO2.

Pursue High Output, Low Fuel Consumption and High Environmental Performance
The new ZAXIS490 adopts the newly developed engine, 6UZ1.
9.839 liter six-cylinder engine. Rated power: 257kW/2000 min-1 (a net without fan).
Although the engine style has changed from the 6WG1 which was applied for the ZX470-5G and ZX450-3 series, we take full advantage
of this new engine that provides an ideal balance of engine displacement and output, improving fuel consumption as well as
environmental performance. The 6UZ1 engine has larger displacement-to-weight ratio and power-to-weight ratio compared with the
6WG1 engine thus it features excellent durability as well as less vibration. This change has been made for improving environmental
performance and lowering maintenance cost.

The undercarriage of the ZAXIS 530LCH is stronger than that of the ZAXIS 490LCH. The diameter for the upper/lower rollers, idlers, and
sprocket is increased to be of the same size as that of a 60 t class excavator. The rotational speed relative to the distance traveled is
reduced, lowering component wear. This is effective for the introduction at sites where travel frequency is high.

The ZAXIS 530LCH has a traction force 30% greater than that of the ZAXIS 490LCH. The
distance between the tumblers is shortened even more, increasing steering force. This is

Optimum Data Communication System

The Function of Global e-Service
Hitachi’s Global e-Service is a dedicated online,
web based application, developed by Hitachi to
help customers monitor and operate customers'
fleet of Hitachi machines in the best possible way
to increase productivity, reduce downtime, and
ultimately reduce costs.
The Global e-Service website can be accessed at

any time from any computer connected to the
Internet. After logging on to the website, a variety of
essential information is available, ranging from
recent machine operation data and maintenance
records, to information on the actual geographical
location of your machines.
Global e-Service sends its machine operation data

on a daily basis via GPRS or satellite to a main
server managed by Hitachi. This data is then
processed by Hitachi and made available to
customers in a clear and structured way through
the Global e-Service website.

Maintenance Information
The Global e-Service website gives customers the opportunity to store and recall all details of maintenance services
carried out in the past or planned in the future to streamline planning of each machine’s utilisation.
Monitoring Maintenance Details

Selecting the tab “Maintenance” will give customers an
immediate overview of the maintenance status of a
particular machine.
The complete maintenance history record of each
machine is displayed in one screen. Moreover any
maintenance carried out on the machine is shown in the
overview the next day.
Planning Maintenance Activities

To help customers efficiently plan maintenance
activities to be carried out on a particular machine, the
actual operating hours of each main sub-assembly are
shown as a function of the maintenance items to be
carried out in hours.
This will help customers define when maintenance
activities should be performed so that customers can
reflect this information in the planning of the machine’s
utilisation, parts ordering, etc

Geographical Location
Efficiently monitoring and planning the utilisation of any of customers machines’ requires customers to
know each machine’s exact geographical location of current operation.
The latest reported location of customers' machines can be shown on the screen using different mapping
methods based on GIS (Geographical Information System) or Google Maps.
