OUTLINE
This Service Bulletin provides information on the setting of Oil Clean, a cleaning solution that you
will need for EGR cooler inspection of Isuzu Motors-made engine. Refer to this Service Bulletin on
the Oil Clean part no.
Use the Oil Clean that is explained in this Service Bulletin when you clean the EGR cooler.
Carry out work while referring to either the engine manual or this Service Bulletin.

* Thoroughly read the safety section in the service manual before starting the work to ensure safe operation.
Welding work, if any, should only be done by qualified welders.
* After replacing the main hydraulic equipment or engine or after post-assembling the aforementioned as an
option, be sure to change and register the post-assembled device serial number on Global e-Service (MMR,
HR, MME, G-Claim).

1 Outline
“Oil Clean,” a cleaning solution is now available to inspect the EGR cooler of Isuzu Motors-made engine.
Use the Oil Clean that is explained here when you clean the EGR cooler.

※ The amount that you need will depend on the size of the tub for soaking the cooler.
Order the necessary amount.

3 EGR cooler inspection/cleaning method

After the operation (immediately after stopping the engine), the coolant and EGR cooler
might are still hot. Wait until the coolant and EGR cooler cool before you begin work.

〇 Cautionary items for work


1. If you are using cleaning solution, don’t work near the fire.
2. If you are using cleaning solution, wear a mask and safety goggles.
3. If you are using cleaning solution, aerate sufficiently.
4. After removing the EGR cooler, cap the joint and coolant circuit to prevent the entry of foreign
substances.

〇 Inspection of EGR cooler assembly


1. Inspect the EGR cooler.
・Inspect the inside of the EGR cooler. If there are carbon sediments, clean.
・Inspect the inside of the EGR cooler. If there are damages, replace the EGR cooler.

〇 Cleaning of EGR cooler assembly


1. Have Oil Clean ready.
2. Have a tub ready. Pour Oil Clean into the tub.
3. Immerse the EGR cooler in Oil Clean and wait the mandated
amount of time. (Refer to the mandated oil clean infiltration time
stated below.)
4. After the passage of the mandated time, remove Oil Clean from
the EGR cooler with water.
5. Before installing, dry the EGR cooler sufficiently.

※ Mandated oil clean infiltration time


ZX120-3, -5, -6 to ZX180-3, -5, -6: 1 hr.
ZX450-3, -5, -6 to ZX850-3, -5, -6: 30 min.
ZX200-3, -5, -6 to ZX350-3, -5, -6: 30 min.
