Culture can be defined as one's world view, which includes "experiences, expressions,

symbols, materials, customs, behaviors, morals, values, attitudes, and beliefs created and
communicated among individuals" and passed down from generation to generation as cultural
traditions (Villa, et al., 1993). Moreover, culture refers to objects and symbols, as well as the
meaning given to those objects and symbols, as well as the norms, values, and beliefs that
pervade social life. We have a specific form and abilities as a result of our biology and genetics.
These constrain the range of activities through which humans can express their culture, but
there is still enormous diversity in this expression. Culture encompasses how we understand
ourselves as individuals and as members of society, and includes stories, religion, media,
rituals, and even language itself.

Chinese marriages are fascinating because they are intertwined with their Chinese
culture and traditions. People with the same surname were allowed to marry in ancient Chinese
marriage culture, and marriage between siblings was also permitted. The wedding preparations
began with a marriage proposal and acceptance. If the proposal was well received, the go-
between (who acted as a buffer between the two parties) would have the girl's birth date and
hour recorded. If the astrologer confirms that a young woman and their son are a good match,
they will set a wedding date and perform the rest ritual. On the wedding day, the bride's
"Hairdressing" ritual and the groom's "Capping" ritual are very important parts of the wedding.
This ritual represents the beginning of adulthood. On the wedding day, the bride wore a jacket
and skirt and walked into a pair of red shoes placed in the center of a sieve, and her face was
hidden behind a red silk veil or a 'curtain' of tassels or beads hung from the bridal Phoenix
crown. The groom wears a long gown, red shoes, and a red silk sash with a silk ball on his
shoulder, the groom knelt at the family altar while his father placed a cap decorated with
cypress leaves on his head.

Ghost Marriages in China

A ghost marriage (also known as a "spirit marriage") is a marriage in which one or both
parties are deceased. Chinese ghost marriages were typically arranged by the deceased's
family and performed for a variety of reasons, including the marriage of a couple who were
previously engaged before one member's death, the incorporation of an unmarried daughter
into a patrilineage, ensuring the family line is continued, or ensuring that no younger brother
marries before an elder brother. Since 1959, other forms of ghost marriage have been practiced
all over the world, from Sudan to India to France. The origins of Chinese ghost marriage are
largely unknown, and there are still reports of it being practiced today. [From Wikipedia]

Moreover, following the death of her fiancé, a bride could choose to proceed with the
wedding, in which the groom was represented by a white cockerel at the ceremony, according
to the ghost marriage custom. Some girls were hesitant because this type of ghost marriage
required her to participate in the funeral ritual, mourning customs (including strict dress and
conduct standards), take a vow of celibacy, and move in with his family right away. A groom
also had the option of marrying his late fiancée, which had no disadvantages, but no such
weddings have been documented. Ghost marriages are frequently set up at the request of the
deceased's spirit, who, upon "finding itself without a spouse in the other world," brings
misfortune to the deceased's natal family, the family of its betrothed, or the family of the
deceased's married sisters. "This usually manifests itself in the form of illness in one or more
family members. When conventional medicine fails to cure the illness, the family turns to
divination and learns of the ghost's plight through a séance."

The effects of technology on the environment, like the effects of technology on culture
and society, can be positive or negative. The potential for technology to have a significant
impact on the environment has grown since the Industrial Revolution and the rapid growth of
human populations. As a result, understanding certain key principles about the effects of
technology on the natural environment, as well as the many important efforts that people have
made to preserve natural habitats, reduce air and water pollution, and maintain a healthy
environment, is an essential aspect of technology and engineering literacy. Technology and new
innovations are welcomed in twenty-first-century society. Every year, technology advances and
becomes more integrated into people's daily lives. Smartphones, computers, smartwatches,
smart glasses, smart televisions, and game consoles are increasingly being integrated into
people's homes, jobs, education, transportation, and medicine. People can now communicate
easily over long distances thanks to technological advancements. People can search for a
wealth of information at the touch of a button. It has practically improved people's jobs in fields
such as construction and design, as well as education through Internet access.

Technology has many advantages; however, is all of this technology beneficial to

people's health? Is it worthwhile to spend all day on a cellphone or computer? Overuse of
technology can result in minor to major issues. “Technology can have a large impact on users'
mental and physical health,” writes Soltan (n.d.) of Digital Responsibility. Being overly
connected can result in psychological issues such as distraction, narcissism, instant
gratification, and even depression. Technology has an impact on our sleeping habits. It has
undoubtedly had an impact on how we sleep. Many of us stay up far too late texting friends or
scrolling through social media. Even when we're tired, it's difficult to put the devices away. How
many of us have a habit of waking up in the middle of the night to check our phones? Both
children and adults spend countless hours watching funny cat videos or other mindless
entertainment. It's difficult to break free from apps that are purposefully designed to keep us
engrossed.

Moreover, we are increasingly feeling isolated as a result of technological

advancements. Our attachment to our devices can also make us feel lonely. A severe lack of
human contact can even lead to depression. When we spend the majority of our time interacting
with others online, we may feel disconnected from humanity. Sometimes our online friends
aren't even real friends. Finally, electronic communication is a long way from true human
companionship, and it may even be detrimental to your personal relationships. Texting, for
example, has an impersonal feel that frequently leads to miscommunication. As text-based
communication becomes more popular, it creates a greater distance between us and even
those closest to us.

One of the benefits of technology is that clear communication is essential in the business
setting. Miscommunication has cost companies fortunes in the past due to an inability to
communicate between employees or between companies and their clients on time or in a clear
manner. The phone was the primary mode of communication in the not-too-distant past. You'd
need a secretary to keep track of your schedule, and you'd have to hope that you don't get
caught playing phone tag with an important deadline approaching.

“The cultural experiences I had while still outside of our country, where I felt helpless and as if I
couldn’t cope with my new surroundings. I’m perplexed about my own role, other people’s
expectations about values, your feelings, and your identity. Because of the strain of mental
adjustment, you may feel rejected and stressed at the same time.”
