Introduction

Mobile C-arm X-ray System

[CX9Plus]

Rev 1.00 11
CX9Plus Installation, Operation & Service Manual

2 Introduction
This equipment is image diagnosis system with radiology and it was controlled by high frequency type.

This equipment consists of Image Intensifier, CCD camera, Collimator, X-ray tube, X-ray generator (high

voltage transformer, generator) and “C” type of C-arm structure supporting image intensifier and

workstation (Computer & Monitor) for display unit with acquisition images, processing saving and

transmission. Also, it has accessories with hand switch and foot switch for X-ray exposure. Image

intensifier have a 9 inch with standard for purpose and image size and it has a 6 inch image intensifier

for optional and if image intensifier is bigger, could get more bigger image and could diagnosis.

2.1 Operating Principle

High voltage which is generated from the inverter X-ray high voltage generator provides a positive

into the X-ray tube. At this time, after this generated X-ray irradiates and passes an object, residual

radiation reaches the image intensifier and makes X-ray image by chemical action of emitted light

photo. These are done imaging with CCD camera and what can transmit human anatomical structure

through the monitor in real time and simultaneously image is X-ray fluoroscopic or radiographic

equipment.

2.2 Intended Use

The CX9 Plus is intended for use in mobile applications, by a qualified/trained doctor or technician on

both adult and pediatric subjects for taking diagnostic radiographic exposures of body parts.

Rev 1.00 12

2.3 Features

This equipment is used in operation room, emergency room and other clinical purpose and it has

features as follows.

 High frequency inverter type x-ray generator, it could get stability x-ray output and low

voltage ripple.

 Dual focal X-ray Tube with high level heating unit to get more good image and high value x-

ray output.

 Robust structure and smooth movement C-arm structure.

 Low dose Collimator

 Overheating sensor and Protection circuit for X-ray tube.

2.4 Contraindications to the use of X-rays

The exposure of humans to ionizing radiation must always be medically justified. Especially on

pregnant women, children and adolescents this procedure should be used with caution or be avoided

altogether. However, the final decision lies with the attending physician or attending surgeon.

2.5 Options

precautions required by your local radiation protection regulatory body, these X-rays

can be hazardous both to operating staff and other persons within the radiation zone

of occupancy.

Maximum Permissible Dose (MPD)

Many kinds of researches on effects or influences about X-radiation provide basics about maximum

permissible dose. These research results were used for ICRP to recommend Maximum Permissible

Dose but it is hard to define exactly and it is updated from time to time with new research result. For

occupational exposures, the ICRP 60 recommends that the MPD accumulated shall not exceed the

following limits:

 Annual effective dose 50 mSv

Glass Implosion

The X-ray image intensifiers (IMAGE INTENSIFIER.) are a high-vacuumed electron tube containing glass.

Do not scratch or strain the glass of the IMAGE INTENSIFIER. for the prevention of the implosion.

 Because of the risk of implosion, a protection mask shall be put on and extreme care shall be

taken when manipulating the bare tube.

 The aluminum plate (for light-shielding) on the entrance plane of housing also plays as a

protection against the injury due to implosion. When removing the plate, the input side shall

not face a person. The protection plate such as anti-scattering grid is recommended when

removing the plate.

 The distance between the surface of output window and lens attaching plate shall be confirm

due to the data sheet or the specification when the object lens is mounted for the prevention

of damage on output window.

13 Maintenance
To ensure satisfactory operation, CX9PLUS requires periodic planned maintenance and routine user

checks. These are essential to keep the equipment operating safely, effectively and reliably. Planned

maintenance may only be carried out by qualified and authorized service technicians. In this context,

qualified means those qualified to work on this type of medical electrical equipment in the jurisdiction

in which the equipment is being used, and authorized means those authorized by the user of the

equipment. CX9PLUS is able to provide a full planned maintenance and repair service on either a call

basis or a contract basis. Contact ECORAY.

13.2 Correction of Dose area product meter

The response of the ionization chamber is affected by the radiation quality and the air density. Graphs

1 and 2 show the respective correction factors.

The measuring chamber features an automatic function for tube voltage correction (see Instructions

for Use, Interface description). The temperature dependence of the air density is automatically

corrected.

ATTENTION
If the measuring chamber is used at altitudes above 300 m the systematic error caused
by the change of air density depending on the altitude has to be corrected.

After installation the calibration should be tested at installation conditions (refer to chapter 4 of the

DAP meter manual). The obtained calibration factor includes the correction for the altitude. If a

calibration test at installation conditions is not possible the correction can also be done by taking the

respective correction factor k2 from Graph 2 to correct the calibration factor.

13.3 Cleaning

Recommended detergents

For cleaning the system, use only water with mild detergents applied with a damp cloth. Never use

abrasive cleansing agents, organic solvents or detergents which contain solvents (e.g. alcohol,

petroleum ether, liquid stain remover).

Cleaning the monitor screens

For cleaning the display screens, use only pure alcohol or a mixture consisting of 1/3 alcohol and 2/3

distilled water. Wipe the screens and surrounding painted surfaces dry with a soft cotton cloth

immediately after cleaning.
