2.Outline of UD150B-40/V-40/L-40
2.1 Comparison between B-30 series and B-40 series
All P.C.B. are redesigned at New UD series (UD150B-40/V-40/L-40). So, it isn’t
compatible with old X-ray high voltage generator(B-30 series etc.).
In case of B-30 series, Boards are parted into by the function. However, almost of
functions in B-40 series are processed by CPU on UD CONT2002.
2-1
2.2 kV control
Case of B-30 series, NEXSC output “setting tube voltage signal(RKV)”.
I/O CONT received the signal(RKV) and convert digital to analog signal(PKV).
O n the other hand, B-40 series output PKV directly from CPU, and convert digital
to
analog on UD CONT2002.
2.3 mA control
In case of B-30/L-30 series, NEXSC PCB output signals, RMA , FVR and LMT.
These signals are exchanged from digital signals to analog ,and use to dispose of
mA control.
B-40/L-40 series have these analog signals too, but does not use these signals for
mA control. CPU have FVR data matrix. CPU output FVR data from this matrix to
FPGA(M29) directly ,on conditions of input digital data. And FPGA hand over
Gate-pulse to mA POWER2002.
Concerning feedback motion, CPU read TMA and IFV value ,and output pulse for
heating filament directly that include feedback in case of B-40/L-40 series.
B-30/L-30 series feedback TMA and IFV on analog circuit.

4.4 Notes for installation, adjustment, check, and troubleshooting
With UD150B-40/L-40, there are some notes for installation, adjustment, check, and
troubleshooting. Please make sure to follow them. Failing to do so may lead to
breakage of the instrument, secondary problems, or fire accidents.
2) Make sure to turn OFF tube current feedback before adjusting the tube current.
Make sure to turn OFF mAFC in the adjustment mode (FVR mode) and tube
current feedback before adjusting the radiography tube current. Proper
adjustment is impossible when it is ON.
4-4
Matters to be avoided at all costs
(1) Do not carry out X-ray operation when the high-voltage cable is disconnected.
Doing so with an inverter-type high-voltage generator will damage diode of the
IGBT unit or high-voltage transformer. Bad contact of a high-voltage cable may also
cause damage.
(2) Do not operate the filament heating circuit output side unloaded.
Turning ON the FET block of MA-POWER2002 unloaded may cause damage.
This is the same when J3 of MA-POWER2002 is disconnected.
(3) Do not connect the ground wire of the oscilloscope power plug.
Use the instrument without connecting the GND terminal of the oscilloscope’s
power outlet in order to prevent breakage. Do not perform measurements with
different reference potentials between CH1 and CH2.
Addition
Using this instrument (B-40/L-40), the inverter can be oscillated by connecting an
oscilloscope/DVM to the VIN (CP14) signal. (Connection to the F (CP12) signal is
impossible same as other models.)
4-5
4.5 Preparation for test operation
Prepare to test the Ready and X-ray operations without charging the electrolysis
condenser of the inverter unit. These connections must be restored when they
become unnecessary for other checking or adjustment. Restore them to their original
states after the preparation process is completed.
Addition
Steps 4 and 5 are unnecessary when a tube has been already attached.

6. Changing a PC board
Introduction
This section describes adjustment procedures to be taken at plants. Refer to this section
when there is a problem at a customer's site or readjustment is necessary after
replacement of a PC board or other parts. Adjustment work described in this section is
unnecessary at installation.
Use an about 18 meter-long high-voltage cable (low-capacity type) for adjustment work
at a plant. (Using a high-voltage cable other than 18 meter-long ones may hinder
adjustment work because normal waveforms cannot be obtained.)
6-1
6.1.1 Preparation for test operation
Prepare to test the Ready and X-ray operations without charging the electrolytic
capacitor of the inverter unit. Adjust the UD CONT2002 board with the X-ray tube and
starter connected. Make sure to restore connections when they become unnecessary for
other adjustments.
6-2
6.1.3 Adjustment of the oscillation pulse width
Carry out rough adjustment in this stage. Fine adjustment should be carried out later.
(In subsection 1.5)
(1) Connect the prove of an oscilloscope to CP6 B/C and CP7 A/D respectively.
(2) Perform “Ready Up” and “X-ray” operations and adjust VR1 PULSE ADJ so that the
pulse width of CP6 and CP7 becomes approximately 10 µs.
(Before X-ray operation, ma ke sure that the gate driver cable J8 and J10 to
INVERTER-2002 are disconnected.)
CP6 B/C
10 µs
CP7 A/D
10 µs
(3) Make sure that each signal is alternately outputted as shown in the figure above.
6-3
6.1.5 Adjustment of gate waveforms
Make sure that the instrument is ready for test operation j.
After turning OFF the power, connect J8, J10 To INVERTER UNIT on the UD
CONT-2002 board.
(1) Connect CH1 of an oscilloscope to CP2 E and CP1 G on the INVERTER-2002 board.
(Connect GND to CP2 E.) Connect CH2 to CP4 E and CP3 G on the
INVERTER-2002 Board.
(2) Short-circuit CP20 VSIN and CP3 +15V on the UD CONT board.
(Or, type “check 7FF” on the maintenance PC’s terminal screen to forcibly maximize
VS/VN 10V OUT.)
(3) Turn ON the power.
(4) Perform “Ready Up” and “X -ray” operations and measure a gate waveform at its
stationary state. (The stationary state is achieved in 0.1 sec after the X-ray
operation starts.)
(5) Adjust VR1 PULSE ADJ on the UD CONT 2002 Board so that the pulse width is
10.0 µs±0.05 µs for 5V. Also, make sure that the phase lag is 11.1 µs±0.5 µs for 0V.
(6) Make sure that each waveform has a peak voltage of 20V or lower, positive flat
portion of 13V or higher, and negative flat portion of -6V or lower.
(7) Turn OFF the power and connect CH1 of the oscilloscope to CP6 E and CP5 G on the
INVERTER-2002 board. Connect CH2 to CP8 E and CP7 G on the INVERTER-2002
board.
(8) Perform procedures (3) through (6). Adjust VR1 PULSE ADJ on UDCONT 2002
Board described in (5) if necessary.
(9) When using B-40 type, perform procedures (3) through (8) for the other
INVERTER-2002 board as well.
CAUTION
Adjust VR1 PULSE ADJ on the UDCONT 2002 board so that all IGBTs
satisfy the condition described in procedure (5).

7. Changing the battery in LCD and PLC
If the message “Panel Battery WARNING” or “Cabinet Battery WARNING” is
displayed when the power is turned ON, the respective battery is flat. Change the
battery.
***Notice!!***
A warning message for flat battery is always displayed after initializing LCD/UD
CONT. This does not indicate that the battery is actually empty. Turn OFF/ON the
power to cancel the message.
Replacement battery
Lithium battery, CR2450 P/N 074-73307-02
All registered character strings and history information are initialized if the battery
on CPU board of the operation panel runs out. The calendar function is initialized
if the battery on UD CONT-2002 in the control cabinet runs out.
***Notice!!***
Changing a battery clears information included in “radiography condition currently
set,” “registered character strings information,” and “error history.”
Addition: ? With S/W Ver1.00 or Ver1.01, data cannot be downloaded to a PC. Make
sure to backup the data by writing it down.
? Domains for writing data are different for S/W “V1.00 and V1.01” and
“V1.10 or later.” Even when upgrading “V1.00 or V1.01” to “V1.10 or
later,” upload/download using a maintenance PC is impossible. Make
sure to backup data by writing it down.
Usually, change a battery on the control panel CPU board after turning OFF the
power.
When a battery actually runs down, the message “Panel Battery EMPTY” or

Unfasten 8 screws.
(2) There are about ten tabs on the LCD cover. Carefully remove the cover without
breaking them. (Do not pull the upper cover (LED board) too strong because it is
still connected to the lower cover (LCD) with a flat cable. * Carry out this process
carefully to avoid any damage to the flat cable or other components.)
