Assignment-1

1. Take a poem of your choice (most probably one that you have read in your
previous classes) and prepare a write up on the use of figurative language in the
poem. Your write up shall include:

 A list of all the poetic devices (figures of Speech) in the poem

 A comment on each of the above-mentioned devices
 An explanation of how the imagery supports the presentation of
ideas/feelings

2. Think that you are a part of Monaco administration as a minister. Explore the
different ways in which the criminal could have been dealt with and offer your
suggestions to the kinglet. Write your suggestions in the form of an article.

3. Observe the activities of children who are not allowed to attend physical classes
in your locality and make a list of such activities. Prepare a write up on how the
pandemic has deprived these children of the opportunity to learn with ease in a
group. You can consider the following points:

 Children wasting their valuable time in unnecessary things

 Parents worried about children’s schooling
 Possibilities of informal learning

4. How do poverty and ignorance of parents hinder the growth of children?

Prepare an article about this situation taking examples from your surroundings.
Also suggest measures to overcome the problem.

5. Translate any one poem/ short story from kannada /regional language, into
English.
