Teacher Joy has been teaching fifth grade for the last seven years. She is proficient as teacher.

Her students and their parents have always been pleased with her teaching. Her administrator has also
given her consistently high observation rating. Teacher has attended several workshops n the topic of
differentiated instruction and is concerned about meeting the needs of each of the students in her class.
She is looking forward to starting her eight years of teaching an has new ideas to implement this year.
She and the other fifth-grade teachers have some time for planning before the first day of school.

1. Why is important for teachers to differentiate instruction?

Answer:

Planning is one of the most important ways to make each lesson more effective throughout the
year. Therefore, a teacher must have his or her own plan for the children he or she teaches, for the
expected learning success of each young student.

2. Analyze the case based on Hilda Taba’s levels of knowledge refer to ( module 6 p 83). What role does
each type of knowledge play in learning and understanding?

Answer:

When we have prior knowledge about a topic, we understand it better. It plays an important role
in students' life especially in the school. If they don't have related knowledge, they face difficulties in
understanding the needs text.
