For each part of the vocal tract, give its corresponding role in speech production.

1.   lungs
Answer: Lungs provide the pressure that Pulmonary parts acted on.

2.  larynx
Answer: Larynx has wide contribution on the production of sound result such as pitch and
vocalization.

3.  velum
Answer: Velum is also referred to as “soft palate”. Without the soft palate the sound of the
voice would be inordinately nasal.

4.  vocal cords
Answer: Vocal cords is where the sound was being produce.

5.  glottis
Answer: Glottis is critical in the production of vowels and consonant especially if those are
the voiced ones.
