As per UGC Regulations, 2017 regarding promotion of Academic Integrity and


prevention of plagiarism in Higher Education, policy regarding plagiarism is:-
(i) Zero tolerance policy in the core area: The core work carried out by the
researcher shall be based on original ideas and shall be covered by zero
tolerance policy. Core work shall include abstract, summary, hypothesis,
observations, result, conclusions and recommendations.
(ii) Level of plagiarism in non-core areas:
(i) Similarities upto 10 percent- excluded
(ii) Level 1: Similarities above 10-40 percent
(iii) Level 2: Similarities above 40-60 percent
(iv) Level 3: Similarities above 60 percent

Penalties for students


Level 1: Have to submit a revised script within a stipulated time period not exceeding six
months.
Level 2: Have to submit a revised script after a period of one year but one eighteen months.
Level 3: His/her registration for that course to be cancel.
