Lolo Peping. Tina’s card has the number 352 while Amaya’s card
number is 263.

In this example, 4 “hundreds”, 7 “tens”


and 3 “ones”. The number is 473.The number
473 has three digits 4, 7, and 3. Each digit in
a number has a value that tells us its place
value.

4 – hundreds – 400
7 – tens – 70
3 – ones – 3

You can also use your fingers to represent the place value and
value of numbers. You name your fingers with the place value.
Then place your fingers to a number start from the right. Follow
the illustration below.

Example: 92 751

1. Using your hand what is the place value of 6 in the number 1


369? Assign each finger with a number. Start from the right
with your little finger.

6 is the second number from the right so it is on the tens place


2. In the number 123 456 what is the value of 2?
Assign each finger with a number. Start from the right with
your little finger.
2 is the 5th number from the right so it is on the ten thousands
place
