Social

Here are the Sociocultural factors which impact tutoring:

A lack of human interaction. Despite being an extremely efficient way to learn, online
tutoring has the downside of reducing human interaction. Those who learn from behind an
electronic display lose this human interaction especially if it’s strangers, which likely plays an
important role in social development and mental health.

Aslo, a flexible Schedule. Once we remove the restrictions of geography, time zones,
and commuting, finding the right tutor for our needs suddenly becomes a lot easier. We can
learn from anywhere, at any time. Another advantage of tutoring online is the opportunity to
learn in a non-classroom setting. This is beneficial to students who do not succeed in traditional
classroom environments.

Technological

Here are some of the Technological factors affecting online tutoring:

First, access to electronic devices, which is the major constraint in online tutoring. Not all
people have electronic devices, especially in developing countries, so they would be unable to
even use the online learning materials. Even there's a lot of people who want to join our online
tutoring but they don't have electronic devices, they cannot join our online tutoring. In some
cases, electronic devices may be available, but of too poor quality to ensure a positive learning
experience.

Second, software and hardware improvement. It is easy to conduct online tutoring now
because there's a lot of software now to use, especially the Zoom app. Online Tutoring software
is built specifically to create a personalized learning environment of intellectual inquiry,
motivation, and trust. Modern technology allows for the creation of a personalized learning
experience that’s better online than it is offline. This experience is enhanced by the integration
of tools and benefits such as:

● Tutoring Session Recordings

- Review lesson recordings, at any time.

● Premium Learning Tools

- Video communication, interactive technology, instant messaging, and document
sharing.

● Progress Tracking
- Track achievements and progress with easy-to-use measurement tools.
● Device Accessibility
- Attend a tutoring session from any location with an internet connection.

● Collaboration Tools
- Upload and share files like essays, diagrams, and tests.

● Digital Whiteboard
- Write, type, and draw on a digital whiteboard.

Lastlu, internet connectivity. Another major technological barrier to online tutoring is

internet connectivity. Even if participants have a sufficiently powerful electronic device to
consume digital educational materials, they still need to be able to access those materials via
the web. In poorer areas — and equally, in rural areas with limited internet infrastructure — lack
of internet access can single-handedly prevent the rollout of online tutoring.

Environmental

Here are two Environmental factors at play in online tutoring:

First, change in energy consumption. From an environmental perspective, widespread

online tutoring definitely requires the electricity to power hundreds of millions of devices around
the world for longer periods of the day.

Lastly, decrease in paper waste. Despite having pros and cons for energy consumption, a shift
to online tutoring would most certainly decrease paper waste. Think of the hundreds of millions
— if not billions — of school textbooks which are discarded every year. With digital learning
materials, there’s nothing to get rid of at the end of the school year!
