1. Technology is the application of scientific knowledge to make the life of
people easier and more convenient. Nowadays, technology is a need, not just a want. We need technology in our daily lives for the reason of it makes our daily routine and tasks easier, faster, and most of the time, more beautiful. Some instances are: 1. In our chores, when we need to wash our clothes we use washing machine to wash it. By using it, we save a lot of time and effort rather than when we use our hands. 2. For communication, when our love ones are far away, we use our cellphones or any gadgets to send messages and do video calls. 3. For our security, we install CCTVs at our home, store, etc. to be sure that we are safe and our properties are secure. 4. For our education, there are lots of educational materials and resources that are available on the internet. There’s no limit in terms of education, technology is a big help for all of us especially to us, students in doing our projects, presentations, activities and research. 5. For entertainment, we cannot access applications, videos, pictures, video games, or any other platforms if we don’t use technology. Without it, it is impossible for us to watch tv shows, dramas, etc. on TV, listen to our favorite DJs and songs on radio because all of those things are technologies.
2. We have desktop computers, smart phones, laptops, hybrid. These
technologies are important in teaching and learning process because it allows us to find more educational resources and it also help us make our presentations, lesson plans, activities, etc.
3. Advantages of using online platforms include efficiency, accessibility of
time and place, affordability, improved student attendance, and suitability for a variety of learning styles. These are considered advantages because, we are still experiencing the pandemic, it is more efficient for teachers to easily provide or send lessons via different online platforms such as Google Classroom, Edmodo, etc. Also, students can easily access those lessons anytime and anywhere. Students and teachers can also save money on fare, food, and other school fees because they are just at home. Absentism can also be reduced since classes are taken from their home or any location they prefer. Lastly, it gives students the freedom to choose the most effective way to learn since every student has a different learning style.
Disadvantages of using online platforms include the inability to focus on
screens, technology issues, a sense of isolation, teacher training, and managing screen time. Some students have troubles with attention and focus, especially when they see other interesting things to do. Using online platforms for learning will not guarantee that students will learn since they are at home, where there are plenty of things that can catch their attention and focus. Another is internet connection stability. There are times and areas where there are no signals, and it is hard to study and learn if we have a poor connection. Since classes are taken from home, we cannot meet our peers and friends at school, and sometimes we feel alone and isolated, which may affect our learning journey. In addition, not all teachers are experts in using gadgets and digital platforms in teaching, especially those who are elderly. This may create complications and difficulty for both the teacher and the students in their teaching and learning processes. Finally, too much time spent in front of screens on our gadgets may cause serious health problems.
4. Microsoft software is computer programs and associated documentation,
including source code, used by Microsoft in the Microsoft network or otherwise developed by IR licensed to Microsoft. Founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, it is also the world’s largest personal computer software company. Examples are Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and OneNote. These applications have different uses that are very useful to people. It makes our documents, presentations, reports, etc. more creative, beautiful, and presentable. For teachers, Microsoft Excel makes the computation of grades easier. We can also save our file on OneDrive for future use. In education today, we use microsoft teams for virtual classes which is vital due to the pandemic.
5. In Microsoft Word, we can create documents such as resumes, memos,
letters, reports, etc. We can design our own format and edit files the way we desire. Whereas in PowerPoint, we can create slideshows and presentations with transitions, sounds, videos, animation, etc., which is not possible in Microsoft Word because we can just add pictures to them.
