Article 1
Introductory provisions
This decree sets forth the time schedule of the admission proceedings for admission to bachelor and
follow up master study programmes for the academic year 2020/21 at the University of Chemistry and
Technology, Prague (hereinafter “UCT Prague”). In addition, it specifies the conditions of the admission
proceedings for the academic year 2020/21.

a) The exam in the Czech language is to be taken by candidates who have not taken a
“maturita” exam in the Czech or the Slovak languages. This exam includes a written and an
oral test verifying the knowledge of the basic terminology in chemistry and mathematics,
both at the B2 level according to the Common European Reference Framework. The
candidates who prove having passed an exam in the Czech language at the Institute of
Language and Professional Preparation of Charles University or at the Institute of the Czech
Language of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic at the language level B2 with the
result at least 70 % are to sit only for the oral part of the exam. The exam is organized by the
Department of Languages of UCT Prague and it is considered as successfully passed if the
student reaches at least 70 % (average of the results of written and oral parts).
b) Talent exam for candidates for study in the four-year bachelor study programme
Conservation and Restauration of Cultural Heritage Objects. The exam according to
specilization is organized by partner higher professional schools and the classification is
based on the grades used in secondary school classification.
2. In case of candidates under Section 1, in determining the order of candidates, only those will be
taken into account who have successfully met the other admission requirement, i.e. the Czech
language exam and/or the talent exam.
3. In compliance with Article 2 paragraph 6 of the internal regulation, the criteria for determining the
order of the best candidates shall be as follows:
The criterion for determining the order of the best candidates is the average of marks in the
subjects Chemistry and Mathematics on the annual school reports of the three pre-final years and
on the semi-annual report of the final year of the secondary school (eight marks in total). If the
candidate does not have the sufficient number of marks in these subjects, the missing marks are
taken from other subjects of natural sciences (e.g. Physics or Biology); in case of candidates for
study in the bachelor study programme Conservation – restoration of works of art and craft, the
missing marks are taken from the subjects related to the selected study programme, usually
subjects focused on the history of art. If necessary, the Dean sets forth which other subjects are to
be included in the average.
4. In case of candidates who must comply with the other condition for admission under Section 1
letter b), the criterion for determining the order of the best candidates is the average based on the
average of the study results and on the result of the talent exam.

Admission proceedings for admission to follow up master study programmes
provided in the Czech Language

Specification of further conditions and requirements
1. In compliance with Article 4 paragraph 10 of the internal regulation, further conditions for
admission to study in follow up master study programmes/study areas are specified as follows:
a) Achieving at least 100 credit points in selected subjects which the candidate passed in the
preceding bachelor study. The subjects decisive for admission to study are published on the
web sites of UCT Prague.
b) Successful completion of a professional entrance exam in case of candidates who have not
achieved at least 100 credit points in the selected types of subjects. The examination areas
and form of exam are defined by the Dean and published on the websites of UCT Prague. The
examination board may decide that within the master study the candidate will have to pass
the subjects of bachelor study that are necessary for successful completion of his/her study
in the master study programme.
2. Entrance exam in the Czech language is to be taken by foreign candidates who have neither taken
a “maturita” exam in the Czech or the Slovak languages nor graduated from university in the Czech
language or the Slovak language. This exam includes a written and an oral test verifying the
knowledge of the terminology in chemistry and mathematics, both at the B2 level according to the
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The candidates who prove having passed
an exam in the Czech language at the Institute of Language and Professional Preparation of Charles
University or at the Institute of the Czech Language of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
at the language level B2 with the result of at least 70 % are to sit only for the oral part of the exam. The
exam is organized by the Department of Languages of UCT Prague and it is considered as successfully
passed if the student reaches at least 70 % (average of the results of written and oral parts).
3. The criterion for determining the order of the best candidates is the weighted average of marks
obtained in selected subjects in the bachelor study programme to which the master study
programme is a follow up. The weight is the number of credit points obtained in the given subject.
In case of candidates who take a professional entrance exam, the weighted average is replaced by
the result of the entrance exam.
4. If the candidate has passed the selected subjects at another university and the subjects were
classified only by a credit, the Dean may include the credits from such subjects.

order of the best candidates for study in a bachelor study programme shall be as follows:
