6. In an algebra test, the highest grade was 50 points higher than the lowest grade. The
sum of the two grades was 180. Find the lowest grade.
7. The length of a rectangular map is 15 inches more than its width. If the area of the
rectangle is 225 square inches, find the width of the rectangle.
8. A dairy farm has two cows. Last month, cow A produced 250 gallons less than twice the
amount of milk from cow B. Together, the two cows produced 1200 gallons of milk.
9. Two numbers are in the ratio 5 to 8. When 2 is added to each, the ratio of the resulting
numbers is 2 is to 3. Find the numbers.
10. Ten less than four times a number is 14. What is the number?
11. The smaller of two integers, x and x +3, is multiplied by 3, and then added to the other
integer. The sum of the two integers is 100, what is the larger integer?
12. A rectangle is 5 meters longer than its width. If the length is shortened by 2 meters and
the width is increased by 1 meter, the area remains the same. Find the area of the
rectangle.
13. In a department store sale, Kimberly bought a blouse that was reduced by 40% from
P2,000. After the sale, the same brand of blouse was increased by 25% over the sale
price. What is the final price of the blouse?
14. The length of a thread is 40 feet. The thread is cut into two parts such that one part is 12
feet shorter than the other part. Find the length of the longer part.

15. Magic Squares! A magic square if order n is arrangement of numbers in a square such
that the sum of the n numbers in each row, column, and diagonal is the sam number.
The magic square below has order 3, and the sum of the numbers in each row, column
and diagonal is 15.
