MY PHILOSOPHY

Eclecticism is nothing but fusion of knowledge from all sources. It is a peculiar type of educational
philosophy which combines all good ideas and principles from various philosophies. Eclecticism is a
conceptual approach that does not hold rigidly to a single paradigm or set of assumptions, but instead
draws upon multiple theories, styles, or ideas to gain complementary insights into a subject, or applies
different theories in particular cases. It can sometimes seem inelegant or lacking in simplicity, and
eclectics are sometimes criticized for lack of consistency in their thinking. It is, however, common in
many fields of study.

As an aspiring educator with an eclectic philosophy, I must incorporate the concept of a flexible and
dynamic all-around outlook in acquiring knowledge. It is expected that the nature of the learners
revolves around their curiosity, to have an answer with their what, hows and whys. Basically, as a future
teacher, I would teach the course of my chosen discipline, my expertise which I practice over the years of
studying. Well, the reason behind my choice to be in teaching is that it's something that at first I know
I'm into, like over the course of my childhood—visualizing my future job. I really admire educators but as
soon as I grew older, my student-teacher's aura slowly faded. But, as I reached different levels in
learning, I've encountered a lot of personalities in education and few of those individuals drove me to
come back with my first love which is teaching even though I don't really picture myself as one but here I
am pursuing this field, as an aspiring teacher. Being a teacher is definitely not an easy job, one needs to
be passionate enough. Day-by-day I could view myself being happy with teaching and as I undergo the
process of becoming an efficient and effective teacher, I want to proudly say that 'This is my calling'.

The teaching in an eclectic approach will most likely have the varieties of learning into different fields.
Now, I'll start with the basics, then continue to branch up to the broader view of the subject. Also, I'll
take time in manifesting real-life examples that clearly visualizes and depicts the concepts of lessons. I
intend to put my objectives with every student interaction I would have, enabling the power of
participation and communication. Through practicing different teaching methods and applying effective
interactive activities, it gives a chance to our common sense to mould and shape our method according
to the circumstances and available materials of teaching aids. Innovate materials through a general
knowledge and observation to the students' nature of learning.

It is the nature of man that he likes change. He wants new and novel ways in every field of work. The
same is the case with the learning process. Learners always like something new and exciting. This
approach is broad and may include every kind of learning activity and saves learners from monotony. It is
helpful in all kinds of skills in stimulating a creative environment and gives confidence to the learners.
One can develop communication skills by practicing and participating in language activities. So if the
teacher follows an eclectic approach, the class will be interesting, avoid monotony and it will improve
student's communication skills and objectives of language will be reached. With the practices attained
through training and educational programs, as well as experiences which also take a big part in the
process of learning, I'm confident that such approaches of teaching will align to the student's nature of
learning.
