Introduction

Pregnancy is a unique, exciting and often joyous time in a woman's life, as it

highlights the woman's amazing creative and nurturing powers while providing a bridge

to the future. Pregnancy comes with some cost, however, for a pregnant woman needs

also to be a responsible woman so as to best support the health of her future child. The

growing fetus (the term used to denote the baby-to-be during early developmental

stages) depends entirely on its mother's healthy body for all needs. Consequently,

pregnant women must take steps to remain as healthy and well-nourished as they

possibly can. Pregnant women should take into account the many health care and

lifestyle considerations described in this document.

During your pregnancy you may have a number of annoying problems that are

not dangerous but may need some attention. Complications of pregnancy are health

problems that occur during pregnancy. They can involve the mother’s health, the baby’s

health, or both. Some women have health problems that arise during pregnancy, and

other women have health problems before they become pregnant that could lead to

complications. It is very important for women to receive health care before and during

pregnancy to decrease the risk of pregnancy complications.

This study focused on illness experienced by pregnant women. Every pregnancy

is different, but developments will most likely occur within this general time frame. Some

methods of pregnancy prevention work better for certain individuals.

Methods

This study used descriptive research aims to accurately and systematically

describe a population, situation or phenomenon. Can use a wide variety of research

methods to investigate one or more variables. The researcher’s used snowball sampling

techniques, is a type of qualitative research design where it is a recruitment technique in

which research participants are asked to assist researchers in identifying other potential

subjects.

This study was conducted in selected barangays of Bicol Region. The target

respondent of this research is pregnant women and women who experienced

pregnancy. The instrument used of this study is survey questionnaire, it includes socio-

demographic profile, checklist and open and close question. This study used

demographic profile computation where Divide the target demographic by the

entire population, and then multiply the result by 100 to convert it to a percentage.

2. Illnesses or problems experience by pregnant women

The researchers found out that some illness or problems experience by pregnant

women are vomiting, morning sickness or nauseas (hyperemesis gravidarum),

dizziness, obesity, back pain or body cramps and urinary tract infections.

The respondents answered that their doctors, nurse/ physician guide them in the

process by giving them monthly follow check-up, vaccination (anti- polio, anti-tetanus

etc.) monitoring of weight blood pressure and heart rate, health test, do’s and don’ts,

advises and routines in pregnancy, giving what is needed and taking care of them in

times of labor, ultra sound, prenatal and post-natal maternal.

Conclusion

The researchers concluded that being pregnant is not easy, it is about dealing

every day in many changes and big adjustment. Experiencing illness or problems during

pregnancy is part of being pregnant. Some are lucky to have smooth pregnancy and

some are rough and said “it is better to give birth rather than to conceive” because to

some conception is worse than labor to release child. The big accomplishment of this

research is, the researchers know what are the problems or illnesses experienced by

pregnant women and what they feel and give feedback about pregnancy.
