THE ENTREPRENEURIAL MIND

ACTIVITY:

1. List two (2) entrepreneur (not listed in 02 Handout 1) that made an impact on your life, or the
society. Explain how they made a difference, and how their idea would affect the world if it did
not exist.

Answer:

 Bill Gates impact is immeasurable, he has changed technology, has transformed the way
people communicate and do business, especially for us as a student. Today, people can
gather and organize information with the ease of many Microsoft products. Maybe if Bill
Gates doesn’t create Microsoft, we would not be able to do things easier or we will find
other software or applications that would help us. But, I also believe that there is
someone out there in this world that has also same knowledge as Bill Gates, and can
also create an application similar to Microsoft.

 JACK MA, the founder of Alibaba Group, has a suite of companies specializing in E-
commerce, online money transfers, and online shopping domains. His advice to budding
startups that inspires me is: “Never give up, Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, but
the day after tomorrow will be sunshine.” His “never say die attitude” helped him
overcome all adversities and climb the success ladder, which took him from rags to
riches. If Jack Ma didn’t create an E-commerce site, there will be difficulty importing
products from other countries. Right now, it is accessible for us even to people that are
just starting to plan on creating business to communicate with different suppliers.

2. In your opinion, how does value creation affect entrepreneurship?

Answer:

 Value creation is very important to entrepreneurship, companies with higher rates of

value creation can develop quicker, have better access to financial markets, provide
more possibilities to workers, and have a stronger ability to self-fund. If your product or
service does not give value to your consumers, you will not be able to acquire customers
and earn money. To be a successful entrepreneur, you must be able to produce a high-
quality product for which people would pay money. You must also be able to beat any
competitors as well.

3. Will you aspire to have a business that creates value for society? Or a business that
creates value for the shareholders? Why?
Answer:

 Maybe both, once you have a business that genuinely helps people, and creates jobs
that are great for society, your business will thrive. When someone sells something that
someone needs, that is great for society. Finally, you may want to look at the most
philanthropic people or shareholders on the planet, then you can maximize their wealth
and that means you can grow together.
