Individuals below 60 years old

The National Vaccination Operation Center issued an advisory on April 8, 2021 re: Operational Guidance Pertaining to the
Temporary Suspension of the Administration of Astrazenica to Individuals below 60 years old.

Based on the recommendation of Philippine Food and Drug Authority (FDA), the Department of Health (DOH) has
TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED the use of Astrazenica vaccines for individuals aged below 60 years old due to reports of rare
cases of blood clots with low platelets observed in some individuals inoculated with the vaccine. The temporary suspension is
a PRECAUTIONARY measure and the vaccination program will continue as the benefit of vaccination outweigh the risk.

All possible vaccine recipients aged below 60 years’ old who are scheduled to be given with their first dose of Astrazenica
vaccine in the succeeding days shall be deferred or provided with Sinovac vaccine as deemed appropriate based on DOH
guidelines.

All individuals vaccinated with the first dose of Astrazenica are encouraged to await further guidance from DOH on the
administration of the second dose of Astrazenica vaccine.

Based on the interim statement of the Covid-19 Subcommittee of the WHO Global Advisory Committee, all Astrazenica
recipients are advised to seek medical attention with the following symptoms within four (4) to twenty (20) days after
vaccination- shortness of breath, chest pain, leg swelling, persistent abdominal pain, neurologic symptoms such as severe
and persistent headaches or blurring of vision, any tiny blood spots under the skin beyond the site of the injection.

The National Task Force against COVID-19 and DOH reiterate that vaccination of COVID-19 vaccines is SAFE and FREE.
The FDA has assured the public that these measures are undertaken to ensure the safety of ever Filipino.

The guidelines aforementioned is adopted by the Cagayan Valley Regional Vaccination Operation Center for dissemination
and strict implementation. Herewith is the National Vaccination Operation Center (NVOC) Advisory No. 28 for your ready
reference and guidance.
