Being a Kpop Fangirl

Anywhere around the world, there millions of girls are becoming fangirls and it's really a trend
nowadays. Wherever you look you will always see types of fangirls. According to dictionary, fangirl is a
girl or woman who is an extremely fan of someone or something. But for me ,being a fan specifically a
Kpop fan is more than just that. Yes, I am a Kpop fan and I just want to share how Kpop inspired me
and changed my life.

Kpop is a genre of popular music originating in South Korea. It is influenced by many styles and genres
from around the world such as, Pop music , Hip Hop music, Rock, R&B, and many more. Kpop stars or
'idols' consist of dancers, singers, rapper and they're also well-known for their unique personalities.
Kpop may seem so uninteresting, weird, and crazy for others but for me it's an enjoyable hobby.
'Fangirling' for me is a way of expressing myself. Listening to their music , watching variety shows,
awarding and peformance stages just feel so different. We always feel excitement and even goose
bumps from the flashy clothing and music videos, the energy from the eye-catching choreographies.
The catchy and groovy lyrics that will make you want to dance and sing along. But aside from the
crazy hype Kpop gives off, it may surface as a touching outlet and we may get emotional. Kpop can
make us fans the happiest people in the world. It can make us smile, laugh, scream out of joy, and cry
from immense pride and happiness.

But being a Kpop fan is not that easy, others would say that it's a complete nonsense and I wouldn't
get any benefits from it. Other people would always throw many questions and side comments that
would really hurt my feelings. But what's really sad about it is that no matter how hard I try to explain
my side, no one will understand how fangirling helped me a lot. Even though being a Kpop fan is not
an easy task, even if many might mock and laugh at you. I still didn't regret being one. I am part of
Kpop fandoms where I met a lot of strangers and became my friends. They're like a second family to
me, a family that I would love to laugh and cry over Kpop together.

Fangirling taught me so many things, it made me realize that life is a path full of efforts, that if you
want to achieve something, you need to work hard for it, the dreams I started to build from seeing my
hard working idols is something I think I wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. I was able to accept
and love myself the way I am and started wanting to be a better version of myself, to strive hard for
the things I want. Supporting my favorite Kpop groups feels like we are in a journey together, and no
matter what happens I would always be proud and grateful to become part of this Kpop world.
