Writing a Story Based on Picture (with Time Limit)

Steps:

1. Analyze the image. Give yourself a couple of seconds to think of the scenario.
2. Begin with the main idea.
3. Give 2-3 details supporting the main idea
4. End the story with an impacting idea.
5. Check for grammar, sentence construction and make sure you fulfill the 3 items above.
• Avoid, as much as possible the first and second person (I, me, my, you, he, she etc.)
• Focus on using person (We, our, their) – Why? It’s more impactful. If you can’t avoid the
first and second person, just use it decently and not excessive.

EXAMPLES:

The Philippines has experienced flood many times especially during natural calamities.
Everyone should practice proper waste disposal within our neighborhood. Cleaning our canals
and drainages will also help to lessen the effects of flood . We should always be responsible in
taking care of our environment to prevent this from happening in the future. (54 words)
The world is fighting a deadly virus which is the COVID-19. It continues to spread in many
places. Our health personnel and other frontliners are helping in the battle against the virus.
We should also do our part to prevent the spread by staying at home and following the
authority. With our help, the world will be COVID-free. (58 words)

The space is an exciting and interesting place. Recently, the NASA sent two astraunats in space
for a mission. This exploration will give us an opportunity to know more about what’s in space
and create studies for our benefit. We can say that technologies like this is an advantage in
improving our life here on Earth. (56 words)
Global warming is a challenge for the world. This may cause forest fires, weather changes, and
other dangerous effects. We should start taking care of our nature especially our trees. We
should avoid cutting our trees and preserve our forests. If we care for our Mother Earth, the
Mother Earth will also take care of us. (56 words)

Filipinos love to defend our beliefs and principles. We have witnessed many rallies and
protests recently because of the decision of our politicians and nation leaders. Everyone is
free to voice out their concerns but we should do it in a decent and peaceful manner. We
should avoid violent actions to one another. At the end of day, we are all contributors to the
