1. The discharge of the pipe system shown is 420 liters/sec.

Determine the head

loss from A to D. Assume f = 0.020

2. A 1200mm concrete pipe 1800 m long carries 1.35m 3/s from reservoir A,
discharging into two concrete pipes each 1350m long and 750mm in diameter.
One of the 750 mm pipes discharges into reservoir B, in which water surface is
6m lower than that in A. Determine the elevation of the water surface in reservoir
C, into which the other 750mm pipe discharges. Assume f = 0.02.

3. Water from a reservoir is pumped to a higher elevation through a 450 mm
diameter and a pressure of 250 kPa is maintained at the summit where the pipe
is 110m above the reservoir. the pipe discharges 1.56 m 3/s and total losses due
to friction is 8m. What output power must be furnished to the water.
